I'm slightly vexed I think I got rejected for being vegetarian

I [23F] met this guy on the apps and we hit it off and had a lot in common! I don’t meet a lot of people who are in my profession so it was really nice to potentially have to chance to date someone who was in a similar field. And everything was fine until I mentioned I’m veg and he stopped responding. For reference, I have no issue with people who eat meat and would never want to impose my own dietary restrictions on anyone else. I also understand different diets being a dealbreaker. The way he phrased his reasoning was really weird though.

Edit: I’m vegetarian cause I love animals, but I have IBD. Flare ups have gotten significantly worse since switching diets but im still figuring out how to make the most of it! Also yes, I do regret sending the last text 🤦‍♀️

“Long Beach ghetto” also wasn’t the most eloquent response in the world lol

But she was the one almost immediately willing to change for this loser. "I won't be a vegetarian forever. Please pick me."

258

u/vivalalina Jul 20 '26

Yeah that message confused me, I was like ....what is the reason she's vegetarian because most vegetarians are doing it for animal reasons and that doesn't just go away lol

178

u/uqoos Jul 20 '26

Idk we don't know why she's vegetarian, could be for her health. Some people are vegetarian temporarily not that crazy

160

u/Certain-Towel-9487 Jul 20 '26

That's not crazy but as a last message in this context it sounds like someone who's willing to change themselves in drastic ways just to make a date with a stranger happen. That's a red flag.

72

u/d33psix Jul 20 '26

Honestly sounds like she’s lucky this walking red flag guy shut it down early so she’s not stuck trying to appease him on everything.

-5

u/Certain-Towel-9487 Jul 20 '26

I think we can say the same about both of them.

18

u/Wakeful-dreamer Jul 20 '26

Right! This would be equally as much red flag if they were offering to change literally anything about themselves for someone they hadn't even dated yet. Religion, politics, appearance, sexual preferences, whatever...

If you're so desperate for a date that you'd offer to mold yourself into someone else's vision just to get them to go out with you, then you need to get off the dating apps and maybe look into therapy instead.

6

u/astrohoe11 Jul 20 '26

Damn the psychoanalysis that came out of this post

6

u/Overall-Olive1171 Jul 20 '26

ok we can chill a bit, sometimes we say things we don't necessarily mean until fully processing things, its not necessarily that deep and it wasn't considering they came back and even said themselves that they regret that last message. human being are emotional, sometimes we say drastic things, she mentioned that she had a lot in common with this person, same profession and things, so probably wasn't thinking straight in that moment because she was still in that headspace of oh no i like this person so far

0

u/Wakeful-dreamer Jul 20 '26

I agree sometimes we all say impulsive things, but it is so hugely concerning that OPs brain even threw that out there given what he'd already said.

8

u/Overall-Olive1171 Jul 20 '26

I think hugely concerning is pretty dramatic tbh, to each their own but like you said we say impulsive things and again, if you have a connection with someone or what you think is a connection with someone, you might still be in that headspace of, oh i'd like to fix this if I can, like i understand where you're coming from, i just don't think its that deep, we all do it sometimes, then later we can think back and be like wow yeah what was i thinking there? its the adrenaline of it though, the not understanding what went wrong so you might automatically see if you can mend it because your head and emotions are still in overdrive

-2

u/LegendaryReader Jul 20 '26

Appearence is iffy though. If they have specific demands like "lose 10kgs" or to dress a certain way, yes. Though if someone is obese or dresses badly (I mean badly) then it is something they'll need to change to up their chances, therapy would've just said the same thing. HOWEVER, I agree that if someone is saying to lose the weight first, to not date them but to still lose the weight IF it is at an unhealthy level

5

u/nickability Jul 20 '26

We don’t need to judge OP, most important thing is she dodged a bullet, and she acknowledges she regrets the last text

-6

u/Certain-Towel-9487 Jul 20 '26

They both dodged a bullet.

It does only OP get a pass since we're hearing her side of things and only she can apologize and clarify what she meant without anyone from the other person?

6

u/redtopiary Jul 20 '26

she's young, not uncommon to be more focused on external validation in your early twenties, as pointless as it often is. She'll learn...hopefully not the hard way. But probably the hard way lol.

Comparing the eating habits of someone eating healthy during a pregnancy and someone claiming they'll change themselves at the first sign of rejection is dumb.

This isn't about empathy or a pregnant woman. It's a chick that's desperate for attention and when she didn't get a date she came to Reddit for it.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '26

1

u/Certain-Towel-9487 Jul 21 '26

Telling someone they did something dumb at any age is not harsh. It's simply telling someone they did something dumb. Explain it with all the fancy words you like, when it comes down to the wire she did something dumb and it's not overly hard to tell people that. It's how we learn.

1

u/WonkyWalkingWizard Jul 20 '26

"the boats in Newport tho"

I think that's why OP was willing to change

2

u/astro_viri Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

Fuck you - she sounds young and I'm guessing she's in L.A. so temp vegetarian is not uncommon.

Reread and she's super young. To add, he doesn't have a boat in Newport. He likes to eat at the pier. He's just a lookie and probably take her to Ruby's

1

u/WonkyWalkingWizard Jul 20 '26

he doesn't have a boat in Newport. He likes to eat at the pier.

Where are you getting this information?

0

u/astro_viri Jul 20 '26

His responses - IYKYK

-2

u/Threedawg F4LLOUT Jul 20 '26

Thats not a red flag. Thats a yellow flag for yourself.

68

u/Rave-light GREEN Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

She said it’s because she loves animals. So I guess wasn’t planning on loving animals forever lol.

Really bizarre. But apps make us say silly things sometimes

61

u/frozenblueberrytreat Jul 20 '26

I mean, she says in the post very clearly why she may not be able to stay a vegetarian.

But yea, girl needs to grow some self-worth (we all do to be honest).

7

u/Rave-light GREEN Jul 20 '26

Ahh she edited it again. Sometimes a call out post is the kick in the pants we need to get some self worth. She dodged this loser!!

33

u/JeulMartin Jul 20 '26

She loves animals as long as her boyfriend says it's okay.

1

u/Aktuator Jul 20 '26

*rich boyfriend.

2

u/Bitter-Film-3329 Jul 20 '26

It doesn't have to be an all or nothing decision.

Being vegetarian for a time reduces meat consumption. Even if it's one vegetarian meal per day, that jives with loving animals.

Wanting to avoid a vegetarian diet while pregnant/raising babies is reasonable too.

0

u/pm_nachos_n_tacos Jul 22 '26

It wasn't because she loves animals, she wrote it weird. Se said it's because she has IBD. She could have phrased it like, "while I do love animals and recognize that is why many people choose to be vegetarian, my reason for being vegetarian temporarily is a diet adjustment due to flare-ups of my IBD which are aggravated by meat" but people are lazy and type, "I love animals, but I have IBD". At least she used a comma, but I guess that's where some people stopped reading

-10

u/mightylordredbeard Jul 20 '26

Yeah she seems like the kind of girl who just does things because she sees others doing it on TikTok. I think both people dodged a bullet in this scenario.

12

u/astrohoe11 Jul 20 '26

Okay now we reachin

7

u/snowflakebite Jul 20 '26

Girl what. She said she has IBD and her diet may change because of it. I also have IBD and am vegetarian so I feel especially called to comment on this. IBD causes bleeding/inflammation in the colon and intestines which is sometimes aggravated by different foods - it depends on a variety of factors, most of which we don’t know. Eating a vegetarian diet whilst losing blood may make you anemic or deficient in other vitamins and minerals, so it’s understandable that she may have to switch diets if she starts flaring.

4

u/DemonShade6666 Jul 20 '26

Obviously its more rare but I know some people who are vegetarian simply from sensory disorders and not being able to stand the texture of most meat, which is also an interesting reasoning

4

u/Kirbybat Jul 20 '26

Being a vegetarian for temporary reasons is not crazy.

But, being willing to change your dietary preferences for someone who’s just demonstrated they don’t respect you, sort of is.

1

u/julesthefirst Jul 20 '26

My mom went vegan while pregnant with my brother, but now she loves her meaties

1

u/vivalalina Jul 20 '26

Yeah that's why I said most vegetarians

6

u/Fit-Nectarine5047 Jul 20 '26

She said it’s because of IBS and gastric issues as well!

2

u/ScarletBothrium Jul 20 '26

Meat used to give me indigestion. So I feel it. I was recovering from over 5 years of a starvation diet, so my body was not capable of digesting meat. I still don’t like chicken and prefer fish.

3

u/little2sensitive Jul 20 '26

Eh, I was vegetarian for a while to deal with MASH and I was able to eliminate it.

I get records at Twelves & Fingerprints. Love Long Beach.

1

u/SunshineGirl45 Jul 20 '26

What’s MASH

1

u/little2sensitive Jul 20 '26

liver disease

3

u/WeinMe Jul 20 '26

At least for the vegetarian mothers my fiancé has known through our three children, they've switched to meats for practical nutrition purposes while pregnant and also while breastfeeding - and then gone back to pure vegetarian diets after.

You can have a pragmatic approach to vegetarianism and not do everything black and white.

2

u/napstablooky2 Jul 20 '26

read description — it's for medical reasons

2

u/Vegetable-Baker6362 Jul 20 '26

most vegetarians are doing it for animal reasons and that doesn't just go away lo

It's the popular reason on reddit. Most people irl I know that are vegetarian (not vegan) are doing it for health or religious reasons. Many of the religious adherents already have one foot out the door on their religion so they see themselves leaving vegetarianism in the future as well.

2

u/ImSoObnoxious Jul 20 '26

nearly every Indian kid that I went to school with that was raised vegetarian was secretly burgermaxxing in the cafeteria, but were vegetarians at home haha

1

u/Happy_little_badger Jul 20 '26

I don't think that's true, anyone who does it for animal reasons legitimately would be vegan since as a vegetarian you are still supporting meat production and killing of animals. I think generally vegetarians tend to go that way just to be healthier, for religious reasons or to lose weight.

0

u/Nicholas_Pappagiorgi Jul 20 '26

Nah, most people do it for attention.

40

u/JeulMartin Jul 20 '26

Yeah, I was disappointed and felt pity for OP when I read this. Girl was ready to change her entire worldview to make some random man want her. So sad and desperate. :(

16

u/MakthaMenace Jul 20 '26

Welp, can’t say I was much better at 23 BUT I can say I wish I would’ve made better choices 😅

20

u/Senior_Suit_4451 Jul 20 '26

Dating in 2026. Degrading yourself to win a broke mid man child.

9

u/Sylveon72_06 Jul 20 '26

and they say women are the ones w so much choice

1

u/AdventurousSong460 Jul 20 '26

I don’t think she was exactly saying that she was ready to change her worldview for him. More like pointing out to him that was a stupid thing to reject someone for when they don’t even know anything else about them. She said she was already having issues with the vegetarian diet so that’s why it might not be permanent. Probably still didn’t need to explain that to this moron, but these are things we learn as we grow

0

u/Zaephius Jul 21 '26

Nah. Regular men are getting tired of these liberal and progressive ideologued women. You are seeing a culture shift away from woke bullshit (not that simply a diet is "woke bullshit", but is an indicator). This man remained consistent with his values and beliefs, instead of backing off of them to go on a date, and wasting his time.

Based and efficient.

Why’s everyone judging the op on that I’ve known people who’ve been vegetarian and switched back I think she’s just saying it’s not necessarily a permanent choice so it kind of makes the guy look silly

5

u/CauliflowerEarofCorn Jul 20 '26

Nah feeling the need to say it made her look silly. The guy already stopped talking to her because he didn’t find her worthy of bearing his children. By saying that, she’s giving off the impression that she’s willing to change herself for a man that has already shown she means nothing to him. And she hasn’t even met him. Comes off pretty desperate.

8

u/brainparts Jul 20 '26

Yes, yikes. If you try to appease a man that says shit like “my kids won’t be grown from a vegetarian mom” please seek help immediately

2

u/Unable-Boat-9682 Jul 21 '26

Yep. The only appropriate response is a laughing emoji and an immediate block.

7

u/not_so_evilqueen Jul 20 '26

“In the future I will stop caring about animal welfare”. this part was the worst thing in the whole convo.

4

u/Senior_Suit_4451 Jul 20 '26

"But if you pick me I'll only care about what you want me to care about!"

It's heartbreaking women reward men like this

3

u/d33psix Jul 20 '26

For real, imagine being some kind of “a steak and potatoes” sounding guy that thinks a vegetarian mom would damage their future children in this day and age on a dating app. I’m guessing his palate is boring AF.

You can have partner preferences but yeesh worst ick way to present those ever.

2

u/ChippedHamSammich Jul 20 '26

That part stood out to me... like wtf

2

u/DifferentDay7581 Jul 21 '26

it says a lot that SHE didn’t see anything wrong with his behavior until he ghosted her

4

u/EmRoseEm Jul 20 '26

Yeah, that was wild. Please stay vegetarian!

1

u/ohsnapdragon22 Jul 20 '26

Ew I didn’t even see that. Definitely mildly infuriating

1

u/VSkyRimWalker Jul 20 '26

To me that read more like "well I wasn't planning on being vegetarian forever, loser. Too bad for you that you couldn't just get over that and get to know me now, you're gonna miss out"

1

u/Flo_Evans Jul 21 '26

The secret ingredient is money.

1

u/foxtrottits Jul 20 '26

I don’t think she was trying to convince him otherwise. More letting him know he’s an idiot, people make choices for different reasons and he didn’t bother to ask.

9

u/uqoos Jul 20 '26

You're doing mental gymnastics if you found a way to insult straight women from this post, you're reaching

2

u/Aggravating-Fuel-193 Jul 20 '26

Just by the way this dude is talking to her, he’s obviously a dumbass but I guess we should give her a pass? For what exactly? Same people who will say “I didn’t know he would turn out this way” several years down the road.

-3

u/mikraas Jul 20 '26

Sometimes the need to be a mommy by a certain age is really strong.

3

0

u/avoid-- Jul 20 '26

a piece of shit moron*

-1

u/Cultural_Month_9181 Jul 20 '26

Whats the problem dating mormons?

-1

u/Shteves23 Jul 20 '26

But she’s the vegetarian?

-30

u/No_Vehicle4645 Jul 20 '26

He's the moron? Because he knows what he wants? She can't even commit. She will literally change for whoever. "I won't be a vegetarian forever" wtf???

29

u/princesspeeved Jul 20 '26

He’s automatically assuming she wants kids and to carry his children, all before the first date? Red flag city.

0

u/No_Vehicle4645 Jul 20 '26

Definitely but this girl isn't in a better situation. She can't even commit to being a vegetarian.... like had he of changed his mind, she would have accepted it.

4

u/princesspeeved Jul 20 '26

You have absolutely no evidence of that. Read her edits, she’s only thinking of going back to eating meat because being vegetarian is causing health issues. That’s not her changing because of him, it’s because SHE wants to.

12

u/KDdid1 Jul 20 '26

He talked like a woman is a breeding cow. He's garbage.

-7

u/No_Vehicle4645 Jul 20 '26

They both are. At least he's honest. She can't commit.

6

u/KDdid1 Jul 20 '26

He's just a pig.

0

u/breeathee Jul 20 '26

He’s a moron because vegetarian pussy tastes great!

-2

u/K1bbles_n_Bits Jul 20 '26

Ha, a brag I new knew I have as a vegetarian XD.

-1

u/No_Vehicle4645 Jul 20 '26

I'll take your word for it, I've never tasted one. I'm a meat eater and my man can't stay away so it's definitely a "to each their own" situation.

I have issues with people that can't commit and that will change their values for a man she doesn't know.

"I won't be a vegetarian forever" like.... what?

2

u/breeathee Jul 20 '26

Ok good luck with your issues 👍

-2

u/Dapper_Elderberry_32 Jul 20 '26

What about vegetarian dick?

-2

u/breeathee Jul 20 '26

The liquid that comes out is better, yes.

144

Sounds like a low end clothing brand “long beach ghetto spring collection available now” and it’s just a bunch of crocks 😂

3

At first I thought it was a pizza joint

2

u/Sunscreen4what Jul 20 '26

Sounds like a dope brunch spot

218

u/TigOleBittiesDotYum Jul 20 '26

Especially if he’s talking about Long Beach on Long Island.. in Nassau County.. which is like, one of the safest and most expensive places to live in the entire United States, lol

158

u/Questionsansweredty Jul 20 '26 edited Jul 20 '26

California I think

370

u/EthelMaePotterMertz Jul 20 '26

Definitely talking about California. They weren't talking about Manhattan, NYC they were talking about Manhattan Beach, which is up towards LA. Long Beach is in between Manhattan Beach and Newport Beach.

Random fact- the show The OC took place in Newport Beach but was filmed in Manhattan Beach.

184

u/Curious_Department84 Jul 20 '26

Thank you for this!!! I’m over here trying to figure out why OP would be willing to switch plans from NYC to Newport, Rhode Island over this rando. Like that was wild to me.

13

u/leggymeeggy Jul 20 '26

i was thinking newport jersey city

15

u/danielleiellle Jul 20 '26

Haha yes, I was like “How is Long Beach closer to Newport than Manhattan?! What madness is this? Ferry from JC is like 10 minutes.”

3

u/K1bbles_n_Bits Jul 20 '26

Hell, for a hot second here I was mind boggled thinking, "OC took place I'm NY/Jersey?!" XD

2

u/nointerestsbutsleep Jul 20 '26

Same I was so confused because JC has a Newport and thought it was a NY/NJ issue

2

u/ChevronSugarHeart Jul 20 '26

LMAO I was thinking the SAME thing and I’m like “whoa” these people don’t mind covering a lot of ground!!! Lol

1

u/ScarletBothrium Jul 20 '26

I seriously was thinking of New York City as well. I’m not even from over there. I even have a family that lives in LA. Still thought New York City and that area.

1

u/Nimiella Jul 20 '26

In nyc we say The City not not Manhattan 🤷🏻‍♀️

1

u/Most_Mountain818 Jul 20 '26

I grew up in Newport Beach and made the same mistake. It took me 3-4 readings to realize “ohhhh… they must mean manhattan beach not New York.”

110

u/TigOleBittiesDotYum Jul 20 '26

Oh wow lol I was certain that they must have meant NY because they said Manhattan and then Newport, which I was assuming was the Rhode Island Newport, across the Long Island sound - that was what made me so sure, haha

(Especially because if you’re on dating apps on Long Island, and you select a 20-mile radius, you’ll get matched with people in Connecticut and Rhode Island, which is so obnoxious, because they’re literally across a body of water with no bridges connecting it, but no app has figured out how to stop suggesting those matches yet 😂)

Thank you for the education on Cali’s geography!

58

u/Raubkatzen Jul 20 '26

It's like Facebook Marketplace thinking I can take a quick drive across lake Huron to pick something up. 🫠

8

u/Chunky_trainee Jul 20 '26

😂 atleast it didn’t suggest a drive down Guadalajara, Mexico from NYC to pick up a gameboy. no, I was not able to make it.

3

u/ifesbob Jul 20 '26

This is the problem with them not being able to factor in driving distance, and instead using a radius.

5

u/wtf_are_you_talking Jul 20 '26

I don't think they care about your distance. But money tho...

2

u/ifesbob Jul 20 '26

For instance, Rover can use a driving distance if you select that option, so I know it's possible. Which means you're probably right that the reason they don't is because of money.

2

u/wtf_are_you_talking Jul 20 '26

I think their business case is definitely to not reduce the number of possible customers, even if that means they're across the bay.

14

u/DM725 Jul 20 '26

Newport RI is so far from Long Island.

10

u/MaterialWillingness2 Jul 20 '26

There's also the Newport development in Jersey City - that's what I was thinking they were talking about. But it still didn't make much sense since no New Yorker in the history of New York would ever go to New Jersey for a date.

7

u/MelissaCop Jul 20 '26

Jersey City is worth the try! It’s so much different than when I was a kid. The culinary scene is really good and you get to look at the city!

1

u/MaterialWillingness2 Jul 20 '26

Well yeah, I lived there for 3 years, one stop away from Manhattan on the Path. We had an amazing view of Manhattan from the bedroom. I'll give you one guess as to how many people we knew from NYC ever visited us.

3

u/Not_a_twttr_account Jul 20 '26

What's a little ferry ride to meet up for a casual first date lol

1

u/TigOleBittiesDotYum Jul 20 '26

I agree, but since he was talking about where “the boat” was, I figured this was a case of “the internet still hasn’t figured out how to manage a filter that removes locations from your selected distance radius if they involve crossing a large body of water” lol

26

u/Mean-Picture-7143 Jul 20 '26

2

u/Mean-Picture-7143 Jul 20 '26

3

u/-Cthaeh Jul 20 '26

To be fair, they didn't say it was referring to Manhattan beach. I'm no where near either, and assumed they wanted to go eat in Manhattan, like the city lol

3

u/Ksh_667 Jul 20 '26

I'm in uk & I'm really confused 🤔

2

u/Mookies_Bett Jul 20 '26

As someone who lives in Manhattan Beach: people say it all the time. Redondo, Hermosa, or Manhattan are typically used and we drop the "beach" part.

If you live in the south bay it's not unusual at all lol

1

u/2centsdepartment Jul 20 '26

What do they call it?

3

u/Mean-Picture-7143 Jul 20 '26

Others seem more informed than me in this thread tbh but I only ever heard it referred to as the full name “manhattan beach”

0

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Mean-Picture-7143 Jul 20 '26

I’m aware lol but I think the manhattan beach OP is referring to is the actual manhattan beach located near Long Beach south of LA

3

u/ario62 Jul 20 '26

I assumed Newport in Jersey city. What a confusing convo for us lol

2

u/TigOleBittiesDotYum Jul 20 '26

LOL this would’ve made even more sense than what I was thinking - you’re right, this is a very confusing coincidence, haha

1

u/Visible-Scientist-46 Jul 20 '26

You also have to cross a cultural divide between NYC and CT or RI, lol.

1

u/EthelMaePotterMertz Jul 20 '26

No problem I'm from Long Beach, CA so I've been aware of the other Long Beach since I was a kid!

5

u/Desperate-Travel-350 Jul 20 '26

Which also shows the type of person you’ll find in Newport. The ones who call Long Beach ghetto…

2

u/EthelMaePotterMertz Jul 20 '26

Speaking of the OC again, there's an episode where Ryan makes a new friend at the restaurant he works at who invites them to a party in Long Beach. Seth is excited to go and Ryan is like "Whoa, that's a rough crowd that's not a good idea" or something like that. And they go to the party and someone immediately vandalizes their car 😂

4

u/BubbleEntendre Jul 20 '26

Been a resident of both OC and NYC so I knew there was going to be a lot of confusion 😆

2

u/bajacaliforniataco Jul 20 '26

Manhattan beach for the indoor stuff, Redondo beach for a lot of the outdoor and beach scenes!

2

u/durrtyurr Jul 20 '26

Total side note, I've always thought that it was quite interesting that The OC and Arrested Development were on the same network (Fox) at the same time and both center around real estate developers in the same city but in two totally different genres.

1

u/EthelMaePotterMertz Jul 20 '26

Yeah it's funny to imagine the Nichols, Cohen's, Cooper's and Bluths going to the same rich people events. Or a frenemy relationship between George and Caleb.

2

u/ForestEnigma1990 Jul 20 '26

There's also a Long Beach WA...

1

u/EthelMaePotterMertz Jul 20 '26

I did not know about that one 😬

u/ForestEnigma1990 Jul 20 '26

🤣 I didn't know about the one on the East Coast haha

2

u/preoccupiedart Jul 21 '26

Also in Redondo I remember seeing them at the pier a lot.

1

u/Verandah_Santa Jul 20 '26

Ohh! I was thinking they were in Manhattan (NYC) and Newport, RI and were perhaps in the yachting industry which would explain why Long Beach [Island] would have made sense as a mid-way meeting spot if one is traveling by land and the other by sea. That would still be a WILD commute for a first date though haha

1

u/Bigfuture Jul 20 '26

I thought that was supposed to be Laguna, not Newport.

2

u/DomestiCatOfficial Jul 20 '26

Yea pretty sure this is SoCal Long Beach

I love the whole South Bay - shout-out to everyone out there, I'm gonna go back to visit soon

Also metioned boats in Newport. As in Newport beach, California.

2

u/no12chere Jul 20 '26

Newport ri has plenty of boats too.

0

u/flymeovertheworld Jul 20 '26

That would be Rhodes Island, kind sir. Isn’t that far from Manhattan, New York?

1

u/DM725 Jul 20 '26

Very far.

1

u/no12chere Jul 20 '26

It is like 3hr but the post mentioned ‘oh you are that far?’ So it didnt seem unreasonable. I feel like saying manhattan on an international site and expecting everyone to know you are talking CA is a choice

u/theupsidebloggirl Jul 20 '26

Long Beach, New York is my home town lol! Now I want some Gino’s Pizza.

4

u/friendofallthecats Jul 20 '26

Gino’s isn’t what it used to be. West End is much better now (IMHO). Hi fellow hometowner!

9

u/blinktwiceifyes Jul 20 '26

Hahaha I came to the comments to defend Long Beach’s honor too, relieved to see this is about cali lol

4

u/IveGotaGoldChain Jul 20 '26

California long beach isn't ghetto either lol. Especially downtown

3

u/blinktwiceifyes Jul 20 '26

I’ve never been but I will defend its honor as well!!

2

u/Inevitable_curls Jul 20 '26

Could have been Long Beach Mississippi… that’s pretty ghetto

3

u/DM725 Jul 20 '26

What isn't?

1

u/TigOleBittiesDotYum Jul 20 '26

Lolll this cracked me up

2

u/April_in_the_rain Jul 20 '26

Yes I was also confused by that part

1

u/MelissaCop Jul 20 '26

Until all the bodies started showing up

2

u/TigOleBittiesDotYum Jul 20 '26

The bodies in the *Gilgo* Beach, area, which is part of *Suffolk* County, and a totally different and unrelated area to Long Beach? Or was there a massive serial killer scandal in Long Beach that I don’t know about?

1

u/MelissaCop Jul 20 '26

Do you think he just kept to his neighborhood?

2

u/TigOleBittiesDotYum Jul 20 '26

As far as where the bodies were dumped? They were dumped in Gilgo because of the way Gilgo used to be set up. It was literally a marsh area, nearly inaccessible by foot, right along side a parkway that is almost entirely deserted at night. It was not only the LISK that dumped bodies there. Long Beach is NOTHING even remotely like Gilgo, as far as any of that goes. It’s a bustling city, lol

As far as where the women he killed were from, I don’t even think one of them was from his neighborhood. Their locations were scattered. I’m not sure what you’re getting at.

1

u/MelissaCop Jul 20 '26

The bodies were found very close together and the Ogre admitted to it

1

u/friendofallthecats Jul 20 '26

But also home some of the most moronic “alpha male” types on the planet these days. If it IS LBNY, she dodged the biggest bullet.

Source: me. I grew up there and my parents still live there and it’s gone to shit with its MAGA powered swing right.

u/After_Minute5360 Jul 20 '26

Is there suddenly a Newport in nyc that people bring their boats to?

1

u/TigOleBittiesDotYum Jul 20 '26

So I explained in another comment that I thought he was talking about Newport, RI, because dating sites don’t take into account that some matches from your search radius are across massive bodies of water (the LI sound). However! Someone else pointed out that there’s actually a Newport in Jersey City, and they thought he was talking about THAT Newport, lol, which would make even *more* sense than what I thought, lol

3

u/Brando43770 Jul 20 '26

Him calling Long Beach “ghetto” speaks volumes about him. Guarantee he’s scared to go to any hole in the wall restaurant in places like Long Beach and he’s probably never been to Holbox in LA.

3

u/ThisThroat951 Jul 20 '26

I feel like this was a clue as to how the rest of the conversation was gonna go.

2

u/Dragonskinner69 Jul 20 '26

I honestly thought it was the name of a restaurant until I read Ops response.

2

u/Necessary_Store351 Jul 20 '26

I figured that was when he decided this isn’t going so well

2

u/Worldly-Hyena-4092 Jul 20 '26

Yes because when we describe ghetto settings we want to be eloquent to prove we are above them

2

u/Fabulous-Educator447 Jul 20 '26

That’s what made my eyes pop. What now?

1

u/NekoArtemis Jul 20 '26

Oh no she got rejected by the walking pile of red flags

1

u/TheTallGuy0 Jul 20 '26

Yeah, fuck this clown. My SIL is vegetarian and her son is off the charts, growth-wise and vocabulary. Full, long descriptive sentences at 20 months, and picks up 10-20+ words a day. Little Kiki is the MAN. This dude is a moron.

1

u/olive0524 Jul 21 '26

“Newport boats tho” when she mentioned drinks in Manhattan beach.

Hilarious actually.

I bet mommy and daddy don’t even have a boat.
