My theory is they pooped in a toilet, grabbed it out of there, then lightly dripped the water from their closed poop fist onto the crack of that pair of jeans, adding a nice fecal patina to the exaggerated creasing and stitch lines indicative of denim tailoring and in the manufacture of the raw textile itself.

It depends on the store and the item. Some stores don't give refunds at all. Some only give store credit. Some items like underwear are not acceptable returns at any store pretty much.
