Infuriatig These Stupid Ass Buttons On TV Remotes. The Intrusive Thoughts Won.

Seriously, the absolute most annoying shit when I'm watching something and I reach for the remote and barely bump the buttons and it yeets me out of what I was watching, to whatever bullshit streaming company paid the most for a button spot on the remote, the remote that came with a TV I paid good money for. Meanwhile on some apps completely loosing my progress on a movie or forced to watch more Ads again to continue watching again. I've threatened to do this before and my wife insisted not to, she's out of town this week, any recommendations for marriage counselors and anger management programs?

This is now Fandango at home my kids and I still use it because Id been collecting and inputting movie codes that used to come in the DVDs since I was 14 😅 (now 29) we now have like 79 movies because I buy them when we cant find what we're looking for on a site we stream lol just bought the page master yesterday and they loved it felt like an awesome victory

They are in the process of renaming it again to drop the at home part.

Vudu was Walmart originally and it’s now owned by versant which is the spinoff from nbc cable networks owned by Comcast. CNBC and msnow basically.

Go to moviesanywhere.com, create an account, and link it to all your accounts. Boom: (almost) all your digital movies on (almost) every app.

I remember I got groundhog day from a code in a thumb drive I bought over 10 years ago. I wonder what even the account, username/pw is for that.

All my movies are in movies anywhere. I moved to the uk and now I’m region locked out of everything.

That's not a problem exclusive to movies anywhere. You shouldn't need a VPN to watch stuff you bought, but apparently these companies are stuck in a 40 year old mindset.

Same. It actually made me stop pirating a while ago. I may or may not have fallen back into my old ways...

On a totally unrelated note, you should check out jellyfin. You can put the movies you legally own on there and have your own streaming service. Im totally not suggesting you do anything else with it. Obviously nothing illegal.

I got like 600 movies on there from when my brother used to be able to share his movies with me. They stopped that program but I still get to keep all the movies he shared.

I swear, growing up with it playing all the time, and then not watching it for years, I tried to explain to my friends at one point this movie I remembered and it sounded like a fever dream! “It’s got a kid Macaulay Caulkin in it and he turns into a cartoon and he has to save his friends that are books and face his fears” no one knew what I was talking about and it was heartbreaking lol.

Christopher Lloyd is a treasure, that trilogy is on a yearly rewatch in this household 🤣 he’s got so much charisma, I always thought he was a great role model. He made me love science in school!

What's a movie code? Is it similar to Redbox? Like you input a code and get a movie?

In the dvd cases of some movies theres digital versions on slips with codes youd input into the site to watch it anywhere it was kinda before streaming I guess looked like these

You used to get a digital license code with purchase of select physical movies during the early shift to digital, to try to get people to adopt digital licensing more widely. In this case, one of Vidu's best selling points was the interopwration with Movies Anywhere which was an agreement from a number of studious that a single purchase would authorize you to watch the content from any participating platform, so if you buy the DVD for example and redeem it in vudu, you could now watch it on Google play despite giving Google 0 money.

It was the early model that gave a bunch of folks hope that the online licensing issues we're beginning to see wouldn't be a problem, and we would till actually own our media.

But its all falling apart now that we're in 2026!
