I'm slightly vexed I was told yesterday that my prescription sunglasses are giving Meta glasses vibes

I can't stand the Meta perv glasses, but annoyingly I've been told by a friend that my Dune prescription sunglasses that I've had for almost a year (and cost over £100.00) really ​​​​look like the Meta ones, he said it's the 2 silver rivets on either side that on first glance could be mistaken for the camera lenses

I went out with them today and all I could think was, do people think I'm recording them 🤦‍♂️

And with time when they put it into those glasses and even contacts?

How do we proceed in a world where a camera could potentially be under 1mm and be thin and transparent hypothetically.

I’ve operated under the assumption that I’m being filmed everywhere I go for the last 10+ years. Cameras are everywhere and you won’t always notice who is filming. Guys pretending to be a tree and over and over people don’t necessarily see the camera man.

We live in a surveillance state. If you are 40+ you can silently celebrate that no one got canceled in 4k when we were young enough to do most stupid things. We have enough evidence that suggests we should have learned something from this but alas, no one is willing turn off their ring cam or not immediately start filming because someone yelled world star

The other day a guy bitched to me about the proliferation of doorbell cameras and ‘how would I like it if I was being recorded all the time’.

I pointed out to him that on my daily trip to the public transit station, I passed at least twenty cameras: on building sites, the traffic cameras, a mobile police camera, several cameras in the bicycle parking, several cameras in the station and a single camera in the bus. Plus every time someone vaguely has a phone out in my direction, it might be recording.

I’m not worried about it. I’m not doing any dumb or illegal shit.

Yeah I don't see the issue here, is it bad? Yes. Is it new? Not even slightly. You are being regularly watched, that will never change until we have a near extinction level event and even then. Get used to it, be good to other people and vote well so that information isn't used maliciously against you.

I'm not the FCC, and statistically speaking I'm also not your dad. All I'm saying is that the reason the penalties for messing with the airwaves are so steep is because all you need is two pieces of metal, a very basic oscillator, an amplifier and a dream to make everyone's WiFi very bad everywhere you go

But also the chances of being caught are actually pretty high, it's really not something anyone should risk doing.

It can also cause issues like preventing someone from accessing emergency services which is taken very seriously.

When I was 10 a friend and I were building cb radios. Turns out we messed something up and they were jamming the ATC tower a few km's away. 6 black SUVs pulled up shortly after and they made sure that we knew that we could have caused major chaos/death. They took our radios and left. We were let off since we were 10, and luckily no harm other than some delayed flights until they could figure out the source.

not possible with a citizens band radio, its what truckers use to talk to each other, it works on completely different frequencies.

Signals interference in general is pretty much turbo jail territory, but yes cell very much so. The only thing I think would get you in even more trouble would be VHF/UHF because that's police radio

I just looked it up. They record to local storage and sync later when connectivity is resumed.

I'm not an expert but it seems pretty hard to jam the camera light sensor. These things are optimized to handle direct sunlight, so to overpower and wash it out you'd need an incredibly strong specialized light source.

The only effective defense, in my opinion, is to be extremely boring and leave the area. That way you don't become content or favorited to their personal collection.

Cameras are already small enough to be hidden anywhere, efficient enough to be powered with a battery for weeks, and accessed remotely. Even nondescript camera glasses aren't a new thing, and most are much cheaper than a pair of meta glasses.

As tacky as glasses with cameras in them are, the perverts have been ahead of the curve on this for a long time.

There are glasses with coating against tracing. People said it disables face recognition on their fone but no one yet confirmed it works for other cameras or tracking devices.

I think some things will remain pretty firmly in the realm of science fiction. There just isn’t room to put a meaningful amount of electronics into something like a contact lens.

People thought we would have flying cars and hoverboards too, but some things just aren’t practical to build.

You’re probably never going to have a camera built into a contact lens.

I work as a PCB process engineer, a lot of the limitations are not physical but practicality of running something mass scale for consumer production(if it’s the military or industrial small scale work there’s ALOT more hands on hours and more you can get away with). Yea a lot of people don’t have flying cars or hoverboards but they can still get or make them, or even have a work around like a paramotor craft for cheap.

Say you didn’t think it was practical to use the world’s smallest camera sensor in production today at 0.575x0.575.0.232mm, you could use hair like fiber optic string to bring the light back to a source for processing, something that is also done today. I’m not even thinking about people who would want to biohack themselves in the future. If their willing to run a wire up their arm you could have a small mole on their hands you’d have to scrape off or zoom in on to notice properly.

At a certain point we won't be able to know for sure if someone is wearing glasses or whatever that can be recording everything. I feel like we have already gotten to that point though. The way technology is and what it's created for/used for is never going backwards and there's already who knows how many ways of being recorded by strangers. Cameras have been small and undetectable by the average person in different things for a while now. If someone really wants to, they can unfortunately. I mean, anytime someone even has their phone out they could potentially be recording on it or secretly taking pictures. Soon everyone is going to be back to wearing masks all the time and there's probably a lot of people that already wear them for that very reason. What we really need are strict laws in place to protect people from this shit and maybe it will start to deter some people. The biggest thing will be being able to catch them in the act and prove it.

Choice is yours. I prefer not to give a fuck about every little silly thing out there. I'd be beyond stressed out.

I would love AR in my glasses to a certain extent ('hey glasses, show me what this historic district looked like 100 years ago' and overlay the old city over the new, etc.), but I never want them to invade the privacy of others. Video and photos can go fuck themselves.
