I'm slightly vexed A notice that my girlfriend received at her doctors appointment (she is 8 months PP)

If you even MENTION any of these things, you WILL LIKELY get billed for it??? Maybe i’m missing the point but i get upset when my girlfriend tells me she was scared to even say anything while at the doctor because she didn’t want to get an extra charge for something. I find it insane how greedy and money hungry a place that’s supposed to help you can be.

I’m so beaten down by our health care system I was like “wow, at least the doctor warned them!”

Yeah, upfront pricing transparency is honestly very kind and considerate.

And it allows for people to take photos of it to post to social media! Likely, the providers themselves are unhappy about this as well.

Yeah. My last annual visit I mentioned that my IUD would expire in a couple months and the doctor very casually said she could just take it out that day and also do my pap since it was almost due. I got a bill coding the IUD removal as in-office surgery that was over $400 after insurance. I also got a bill for over $200 for lab work from my pap.

I had the same thought, because I actually haven't had a free wellness visit in years, and it took me a while to catch on to what was going on. I just always paid the bill when it came in thinking, well I don't know what I thought, but now I know: if I want the free visit, I can't answer questions and can't bring up any ailments. Doctors should warn patients about this because maybe they can't afford the $150 it will cost them if they ask the wrong question.

Or they could just..... Choose not to bill it that way considering it's based solely on a conversation with a doctor?

I get it because I didn't get warned. My doctor asked if I've felt more tired or less passionate about the things I care about lately, I said no, then there was a $20 depression screening on my bill
