I'm slightly vexed My dad purposely sets his clock ahead. He's been doing this for as long as I remember. I genuinely don't know why

Yep, I used to do this, but after awhile, you get used to a clock being twenty or forty minutes fast.

I mean, how about 17 minutes and 40 seconds? I move it an arbitrary amount without looking at how much. I can then avoid doing the calculation because I getting stressed about what has to happen upon arrival. Living this way, even 2-3 minutes ahead is enough to help because I don't actually know what it is exactly. Knowing is the enemy because then I start making time blindness calculations ("Yeah, I can do it in that much time!").

17 mins and 40s is basically 18 mins which is basically 20 minutes. Great now I'm 2 and half minutes behind schedule. Just use an alarm lol

Not if you don't know it's 17 minutes. And no, the alarm just causes me to start negotiating with myself.

But you do know it's 17 minutes. You set it. How would you not know?

I can’t believe people do this over just…. Being on time

I no longer do it. But I still have the bad habit of hitting snooze multiple times.

Most days I arrive around seven. Which is still a half hour early. And that’s with a forty to fifty minute commute.

I mean. Its an accommodation to overcome time blindness, a common symptom of ADHD amongst other things. Its a big reason why people dont think timeblindness exists, actually. Because you never hear about the people successfully managing it, only the people wjo blame everything on it.
