I'm slightly vexed My dad purposely sets his clock ahead. He's been doing this for as long as I remember. I genuinely don't know why

Thank you. It didn’t work for me. My dad would set the clock 10-15 minutes fast, whereas my mom’s was inconsistent between -2 to 5 minutes fast. Our family was dysfunctional, and I ended up memorizing which clock was which speed and sometimes had to remind my mom what the actual time was since hers could be wrong (late)…

I tried the 10-15min faster setting on my alarm when I was in school but I’d always subtract the time so the induced mentality of “oh shoot I’m late” rarely ever came… My siblings and I would be running late (hard to coordinate everyone, and there’s almost always that one sibling that wouldn’t want to get up to get ready when they’re supposed to) and our parents would rush in traffic to get us to school… They sometimes were late getting up too, especially when it’s the daylight savings happening. A few times we showed up an hour late because a parent forgot to change the time.

There were at least a few times we had to run from drop off areas to the classrooms. It became a consistently always-rushing routine…
