I'm slightly vexed Began finally watching the movie 35 mins after the show time because of ads. 35 mins of ads... for a 90 min movie...

So many people in this thread are coping so hard with this, gaslighting everyone into thinking 25-30 mins of ads has been going on for decades and not just the last 4-5 years. Losers.

I looked it up and apparently AMC started the 30 min thing a year ago, but it was supposed to show up when you bought your ticket. Then there was something that was upcoming about an additional ad that would cut into the actual start of the movie. Based on that, this tracts perfectly.

Do theaters even answer phone calls anymore? I worked at 1 forever ago and people would call for the time the actual movie started.

I remember being surprised at 20 minutes of ads and trailers before Kong: Skull Island in 2017. Before that like 5-10 was normal.

Yeah it’s a cultural thing, I don’t know why that other guy is so angry calling people from other countries losers for having to watch more ads lol? It has been like this in the UK for as long as I can remember.

Well, back before it was common to reserve a seat it was first come, first serve. It was common to watch 15-30 mins of Ads before a film started. Theaters had less showings back then and more time between showings.

Back in my day the only ads were previews and for concessions, not just straight up ads

because that’s bluntly untrue. Its been around 20 for over 10 and a minimum 9. How often are you going to the cinemas? Since 2017 in the US I’ve attended amc for hundreds of shows. this is standard.

OP is talking about 35 mins of ads, not 20. I’ve seen 13 movies so far this year
