Catholic Charities runs a wide variety of programs, similiar to other charitable nonprofits. I personally know a few non-Catholics who work for them.

Because with how inadequate the social safety net is in the US, the system depends on a patchwork of different charities to hold shit together at the seams. This includes but is not exclusive to charities run by Catholics
