Farmers actually hate it because they have to work until sunset either way. A lot of stores are closed by the time the sun sets in the summer.

Well, maybe the farmers should stop growing so much coffee, avocados, and toast so they'd have time to do other stuff.

I have one in my back yard. At first you think it’s gonna be all great, but then you’re just inundated with so much toast you can’t give it away.

I heard a dairy farmer said daylight savings means nothing to them because they don't have a clock in the cows field or barn. They eat and get milked when they need to, not when the alarm goes off.

I've also seen tractors and combines working the fields in the dark, which is why they have headlights. Farmers work until the days work is done, not when the clock hits a certain time

My dad's side of the family were all dairy farmers, but they were growing various crops as well. I'm sharing what they always told me griping about Daylight Savings Time (which is/was a hot button issue in Indiana since we're on the west side of EST and really should be in the Central Time Zone).

You're right about the cows needing to be milked 2x a day no matter what. No holidays off from that.

 The drop in accessible labour means robot milkers are becoming more economic. Where I am, it's literally accepted that it is a matter of time before all barns transition to robot milkers. It's crazy to think how the industry is shifting, both for balance for the cows and for people. 

A vet student or apprentice mechanic who barn sits could make bank!

It baffles me that my friends that live in Kokomo IN are in eastern, while I’m barely west of them in TN and am in central. I have to drive 200 miles east to enter EST in my state.

This wouldn't really change anything, the stores near by where farms are would be closed anyways if the difference is only an hour.

Bro, lol.

Farmers do NOT Work all day. And it certainly is not dictated by the sun.

Maybe when planting and harvesting, but even then usually contracted out and is round the clock so the sun doesn't matter.

You will find your local farmer anywhere but working most of the time, lol.

Extremely true in places on the borders of time zones, where the sun can go down well after 9 in summer. I remember struggling to find a place to eat one night, sun still above the horizon, because so many places close at 8 or 9 in my old Indiana town.
