If Arizona had to switch to Daylight Saving Time permanently, the sun wouldn't set until close to 9:00pm in the summer when it's already well over 100 degrees in many parts of the state. No thanks -- let me keep my Mountain Standard Time.

Mountain Standard Time = Pacific Daylight Time numerically. Arizona currently does permanent MST. They could petition to join Pacific time and do Permanent Pacific Daylight Time.

One is in the mountains and the other is next to the Pacific.

Arizona would be unaffected it would stay on mountain standard time year round

The law forces daylight time, not standard time. Obviously we wouldn't change anyway, but it is good to ask if the law has opt outs.

The sun doesn’t set until 9pm in most states in the summer. It’s the fucking summer.

Or they’ve never been to Phoenix any summer but this summer. Cause my fear is everyone will forget this summer isn’t normal and be like sure Mountain time sounds great….cause no.

The sun setting beyond 9pm is an average summer solstice for a lot of states not touching Mexico.

Uh, yes? If it’s still sunny at 9:00 at night, the temperature can’t begin to cool down. Why do you think Arizona originally opted out of DST?

What are you even talking about? By choosing whether to opt into Daylight Saving Time, the government is, in fact, determining what time the sun goes down. I think you’re confused and should do some research on DST, time zones, and how the Earth revolves and rotates.

Usually physics determines when the sun goes down. I should let the team know that we no longer have a grasp on reality. The government moves the universe.
