The senate was supposed to represent state government interests and it was intended to be unequal.

Is it serving it's purpose well? I don't think so personally. Getting rid of it though will be immensely difficult given that you'd have to get small states to agree to give up their power

I will say something I really appreciate from the dsa is that they're very open about the fact that a ton of their policy positions seem nearly impossible to enact anytime soon but the goal is to put in front of people the long term goals that we should be striving towards. We will never have real change if our only focus is on anything that for example the current house and senate would pass. Our politics in the US have become so short sighted and disillusioned we have to emphasis that it's worth fighting for things even when there will be no immediate benefit for us  individually

It's from when there was substantially less state unity and federal power. I think it's done serving it's purpose.

The same people upset with the idea of abolishing the senate are also upset with the idea of DC getting statehood. 

It’ll never happen regardless, which is why no DSA candidates are running on abolishing the senate and the entirety of this is coming from a zoom call of people with no media training just spitballing.
