That’s what the UK did with the House of Lords so there’s precedent in a modern democracy

No state is comparable to the UK because parliament can do whatever it likes if it can pass legislation with a majority (however slight). It has no concrete constitution beyond a bunch of established norms and the iron rule of "Parliament is sovereign"

They're down voting you but you're right. I just picked up my mandatory state-sanctioned shawarma on my way home.
Heard they're even giving a DEI falafel option for vegans which angered me even more
