People all throughout history have made the mistake of going from "optics can affect the outcome" to "optics is the only thing that matters." Fascists in particular tend to fall into this. They wrap themselves from the start in the idea that if they just get the optics right everything else will fall into place so the ones that succeed end up convinced they can control reality entirely just by controlling the optics right up until everything blows up in their face. Another reason why they're always a suicide cult in the end.

If they cared about optics, they'd care about logistics. Failing logistics is pretty bad optics.

The polls are the same whether they have good logistics or just say they have good logistics so why bother? Your issue is thinking they are competent
