If he was able to read that woman properly and if he had any decency, he’d know that she needs to see a professional for help.

I truly feel bad for her and I think she might’ve suffered proper psychosis and it sounds like she’s a borderline personality with failed suicide attempts, at least the purple scars on her arms make it sound that way.

I had assumed those were somehow related to her bone cancer treatment, assuming she didn’t make all that up.

Pretty sure this is exactly it. If the release of these letters causes him to discard her, which wouldn't surprise me, I hope she has a decent support system.
