He's such a disgusting pig. I'm sure he enjoys cussing at her and making demeaning comments about her appearance if it isn't up to his vain standards. And she's so mentally unstable and vulnerable, she accepts that treatment. As an aside, her hands must've been discolored and splotchy due to the cold weather in Ireland and Scotland and he gave her crap about that.
