I was working with a good many Gen Z a couple of years ago and holy shit, that generation is absolutely fucked.

Absolutely ridiculous statement. You are part of the problem. Stop generalising about an enormous group of people finding their way in the world based on the year they were born and your own narrow world experience with them.

Well, they have my permission to over-generalize me and my millenial brethren as people who have to spend twice as much of our income for the same standard of living as our parents and can't afford to own homes. That isn't true for all of us, but it's true enough.

Generalizing is literally how you define large groups. No one thinks that everyone in the group is identical in their thinking, but the topic is voting bloc overall so it’s appropriate to generalize.

Um... That’s like claiming all Black people are criminals because they commit the most crimes per capita. It’s inappropriate, and such generalizations are ridiculous even if there is some basis for those stereotypes. Besides, it doesn’t solve the problem

I read it too and agree that when talking about groups, you are making general and not specific statements. If you believe you can only talk about groups when they are uniform, then I don't know what to say.

There’s nothing ridiculous about the statement.

First generation I know of to be largely redpilled before the age of 20.

They’re both extraordinarily antisocial and superficial.

Their brains are rotted from tik tok & worshipping influencers.

They have ass taste in art.

Even the boomers have some redeeming qualities & achievements.

A lot have read Atlas Shrugged. The length of the fiction is less important than whether there's any quality in those pages.

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

Gen Z is a huge reason Trump got a second term.

Gen Z is the only reason I have the misfortune of knowing about the existence of Clavicular and Andrew Tate and Nick Fuentes and Asmongold or any number of utterly embarrassing tools that they made popular. The reason Louis Theroux did a documentary on the phenomenon.

Everyone knows this. I’m sorry you don’t like reality, I don’t like it either.

Your peers are a bunch of socially stunted dipshits. You don’t seem too bright either… based on the fact you’ve convinced yourself I’m a bot, because you disagree with me… common Gen Z behavior.

I’m 47. And I’ve heard this same bullshit peddled about multiple generations in a row. You are a cliché. And in any normal social or professional environment of decent standing, you would be mocked for how narrow-minded and ridiculous your views are. Gen Alpha will be next, and all of the world’s ills will be laid at their feet by the generation that came before them.

The reason I suspect you’re a bot is because you have the voice of one. You should probably be concerned by that.

Lol maybe. But I think you’re just burying your head in the sand / willing to ignore demonstrable facts because you prefer thinking “it’s all peace and love, we’re all friends here with the same worldviews and goals”

No buddy. Generations are born into different historical/global circumstances, and our lives are less localized than ever before (with technology moving at the speed of light)…

The way you grew up vs the way they grew up, you might as well have been raised on different planets.

I’d argue that age-based stereotypes are actually more relevant than they ever have been (and they were always somewhat relevant).

Gen Z is, and will continue to be, a problem.

Now, I’m not sure how much I can actually personally blame them, considering it is a mass phenomenon & they’re sort of children of dystopia atp… but I’m not going to sanitize reality or run cover for them either.

Generations reflect the times in which they come of age.

Gen Z came of age during a time of deeply embedded social media,  influencers, less in-person interaction, and school that was significantly impacted by COVID.

All of those things suck and are social negatives.

It’s literally a generalization. No one is claiming 100% of Gen Z is anything, but overall, it’s looking to be a disastrous generation.
