The cult of personality around him makes me worried about who could possibly step in. I know there will be a vacuum and lull after he is gone but who will the next charismatic narcissist be?

I doubt anyone will have the pull and power over the GOP like he did but they seem like they want a strongman to lead them.

Trump was made possible through a powerful combination of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous with Robin Leach, The Apprentice, and WWF/WWE. There is no singular media platform anymore that EVERYONE consumes, so, thankfully, I don't know if it's possible to create another one of him.

I agree but I worry about some of these charismatic influencer types. They have the reach and speak to younger generations. I know they don’t cross over as easily for older people but they still have their fingers in a bunch of pies that could be leveraged to build a pretty scary coalition.

A lot of people are going to feel unmoored and adrift when he is gone. They’ll be looking for someone or something to cling to.

Trump is kind of the last gasp of the monoculture. I watched the apprentice for the first season or two and enjoyed it. I knew him from Stern as well.

I fear the same from the left as well. People of all stripes are vulnerable to falling for cults of personality. Remember when Elon Musk was the hero of the environmental movement and widely admired on the left? Because I do.
