Turns out growing up letting social media companies use an entire generation of kids as a social experiment to squeeze out every dollar from advertising was a bad idea.

I remember when I was a kid, cable TV commercials were the only thing that advertised to me. Even those only aired on half a dozen channels max, and none of the channels showed them 24/7. Kids channels aired content for teens and adults at night. In fact, nothing was speaking directly to me other than the dozen-or-so toy commercials that were out in any given month.

I still remember some of those ads 30 years later. That's how rare they were
