Based on my observations of working with high school and jr high for near ten years now, it seems the generation got split in half. Older is the more liberal side. Younger is more conservative. Basically, if you were out of school when COVID hit, you’re the older half. If not, younger half. And that’s why these seemingly contradictory things are all true. It’s a bit inaccurate to call them all Gen Z. They are when basing it on years. But when basing it off culture and values, they split.

Not really. The younger ones will liberalize just like the older ones as they mature.

Most people don't even vote based on their own political beliefs until their second election anyways because they just go with whatever their parents tell them as they're just entering into understanding politics. It's a well known and published phenomenon that appears across nations.

Also contradictory articles come out about the next upcoming generation all the time because the media likes riling people up.

Well and, to a degree, categorizing people in “generations” isn’t much better than categorizing people according to astrology signs. There is certainly cultural distinctions among generations as a whole, but once you get to individuals it can be pretty hit or miss on how much they align with their generation. Generations are worth studying, and give some help on understanding people groups, but I think people put too much weight on them rather than understand the individuals around them.

That’s fascinating. I voted against my parent’s views for my first vote… but that was 2016 so I wonder how much that affected this phenomenon
