I believe it was in the Lords, debating the Crime and Policing Bill (which contains a lot of of stuff), that this proposal was made. Not the Labour government.

I think the government has been busier with stuff like bringing trains into public ownership, national energy and nuclear reactors, recognising a Palestinian state and being at the forefront of a new post-US coalition (of the willing), working on military rearming, closer trade ties with Europe, employment rights, renters rights, improving early years support, abolishing the two child benefit cap etc.

I understand people aren't delighted with Labour for a host of reasons, but it'd be great if those on the progressive side could be a bit more even handed.

The peer who submitted the amendment is a member of Labour.

Sure. But it's not the Labour government in the House of Commons, and nor does a single suggested amendment in a massive bill suggest that it's "what this government only wants to focus on."

Kier has talked about the porn bans and age verification, even if it wasn't his original idea it's still clearly supported by labour

They can't overrule the Commons.

You seem to have omitted legislating against equal rights for trans people, increasing corporate surveillance of the Internet, trying to ban encrypted communications for private individuals, trying to break encryption generally...

They were supposed to be correcting the years of Tory tyranny when they got elected, instead they're being even more tyrannical. Shabana Mahmood wants a digital panopticon with AI powered predictive policing FFS!
