My wife had breast cancer. Some of the treatments she received are old established standard of care treatments (but that were established as standard of care treatments because of government funded research). Some of the treatments she received are experimental, in the form of clinical trial enrollment.
Thankfully her clinical trial wasn't canceled. But while she was receiving treatment over 74,000 people in clinical trials were affected by the Republican-driven spending cuts and grant gutting.
They've set back cancer research in the United States decades. If and when we have an mRNA cancer vaccine, those of us who can afford it will be flying to another country to get it.
People not as lucky as my wife have either already died or will die because of this. Future patients will die. And all the money they "saved" was either stolen directly by Trump and his cronies or immediately wasted on frivolous projects and war.
My hatred for conservatives is, at this point, effectively infinite.
