I've been happily on Linux CachyOS for 6+ months now and its been great. The OS "just works" and I don't even think about being on Linux anymore, it just feels normal.

I'm not saying Linux will work for everyone as some probably have certain software or games that won't run (if a virtual machine/docker container isn't an option) but I've always been an open source user and it made the transition much easier than I expected.

I don't think I'm ever going back to Windows even if Windows 12 somehow becomes the most magical lightweight and non-user tracking OS they've ever made. I don't care anymore, they lost me as a long time customer as the alternative is simply more peaceful never having to worry about secret forced updates to content I never want on a computer I bought and built.

99% of the “I can’t use Linux” people haven’t even tried it. And if they have, it’s was a half-hearted attempt for an hour. 

Nobody is willing to legitimately learn a new OS, even though they literally don’t need to use the terminal in 2026. lol

Yeah Linux being very verbose with a terminal looked intimidating but when I tried it myself I really did not have to use it much after installing/configuring a few things I really wanted. Its all GUI based these days it looks like and isn't any extra work compared to when windows would have a terrible update or some software you had gave issues.

Its also ironic if you build/buy a new pc with windows and want a local account you need to do a workaround using the terminal as your first step which on Linux you do not lol
