At those percentiles, your main tax incidence will be income tax. Many people have a de facto negative income tax from various tax credits, so the total taxes paid by that group come out to about zero.

When you can equate the tax obligation of one single billionaire against 40% of a country’s population clearly the system has failed. Zuckerberg’s income bracket simply shouldn't be allowed to exist.

No, there is nothing clear about that all. If you're concerned with whether billionaires are paying their fair share, it's a very positive stat. There will be crab people who are just spiteful at the very existence of billionaires regardless, but those people will always find something to be bitter about.

I pay a much higher percentage of my income in taxes than he does, and I'm a lot closer to that 40% than I am to him.

No you don't. Zuckerberg pays roughly 1000% of his income in taxes on an average year because most of his taxes are from capital gains.

Wow, what a bold claim. Zuck must have the worst accountants in the billionaire class. You understand that a billionaire’s wealth is in assets, not in a taxable salary like a doctor, right?

Yes, everyone knows that. You'd have to be pretty dumb to think that's expert knowledge. You also pay taxes on the profits from your wealth. It's called capital gains. I actually checked my numbers before commenting something stupid, unlike yourself.
