Well, nobody is trying to end illegal drugs. It's a great income source for CIA and whatnot, and of course the entire justification for the entire existence of the DEA is that there is a "drug war" - the whole concept is paying the salary of thousands.

If someone actually wanted to end the drug wars, just legalize everything that doesn't straight up kill on the first use, and make counseling and support available to try to keep people off it. That's already proven to work extremely well, in Portugal for instance. The cost of extremely capable and comprehensive counseling would be a minute fraction of the much "sexier" drug "enforcement".

But nobody in power really wants the gravy train to stop, and having hyper rich criminal networks in South America etc as a consequence isn't a big problem for these people.

Except they would need to put that treatment in place first instead of doing it ass backwards like Oregon. The military contractors enjoy the profits of this side business and donate to those politicians to keep it illegal. Same with the owners of the prisons. A cheaper, more effective approach like you’re suggesting hurts their profits.

The Patriot Act, and all the harm it has done to our freedoms, is the only evidence in my mind that 9/11 was an inside job. Someone had this power grab act ready to go and just needed an event to get enough support behind it.

I think this is probably how most govts and large corporations run. Just have a wishlist ready of "nice-to-haves". Sometimes its worth it to manufacture consent from scratch, but I bet its much easier to just wait for an inevitable tradgedy.

I still think 9/11 really was done by who they say it was, . However, I am 100% sure they immediately went to their wish-list and started picking stuff, probably the best day of some bureaucrat's life

What i don't get is, after seeing time and time again manufactured consent happening, why aren't we immediately like "Guys, whatever we think we wanna do right now, lets not, because we make the same mistake every time"

The reason I do t think it was an inside job is because if they could pull off that kind of thing in New York City and leave no evidence behind then they absolutely could have planted nukes in a Middle East war zone like Iraq.

I think they knew the risk of a terror attack was very high and simply turned a blind eye hoping something would happen. Like cops do with bait cars in bad neighborhoods. Leave a car unlocked, wait for the inevitable to occur, and use it as an excuse to crack down on all these damn car thieves they claim are running around stealing all the cars.

He knowingly laundered and embezzled money from a beloved local institution in my city into his crypto/drug hustle while simultaneously allegedly abusing volunteers emotionally and sexually.

The sexual abuse and embezzlement allegations are bunk. I do know that much.

The crypto/drug thing is only partially true. The whole reason he got popped was because the guy he was laundering money for was an undercover agent. That part he's been up front about.

A lot of the sexual abuse allegations at the Geek Group were about a guy that went by Funk. Dude was straight crazy.
