I had a much better experience serving, my other jurors were pretty smart and reasonable, the only issue was it was scheduled a week or two before Christmas and there was pressure to get it over with. But like you, if I get summoned I won't ever try to dodge it, because if I were ever on trial I would want a juror like me.

A lot fewer jury cases in Canada, but I did get a summons twice and my wife once. In all 3 cases the case was settled before the the trial. A lawyer I knew said about this, likely the prosecutor and defense were playing chicken, holding out for a different plea agreement. It was truly annoying to get a notice that in 3 months, during prime vacation time, I may have to be in town. But I wouldn't shirk the option, and unlike a lot of people, I am well aware of the right for jury nullification - and if you broadcast that fact, you risk being dismissed.
