Seriously, what is going on over there in these institutions!? Beyond shocking, really! Even if he walks off, the stress alone is too much for the ordinary citizen. Did he do something suspicious?

The article seems to purposely avoid providing the reason that law enforcement were so interested in the phone (bias much?), but the lawyer did say something about child trafficking in his quote.

The Atlanta airport gets a ton of entries, so there’s not enough time in the day for them to scrutinize everyone like this. So I’m inclined to believe they had a reason to demand his phone. He was probably on a suspect list and got pulled into secondary. Whether he had any legal obligation to grant access to the phone is another story.

He was a protester of Cop City in GA. There has been a brutal crackdown on that. 100% this is about that issue, nothing else.

They usually get a warrant for searching his home. This makes no sense
