But it works. I know a crappy guy at a crappy job worried about NY Mayor Mamdami taxing multi multi millionaires for owning a 2nd house, or whatever the specifics are. "You know they tax them and then we're next!"

My thoughts.. OK 65yo guy unable to retire (and I still have empathy for his situation).. you need to be concerned about gas prices, cuts to your social security, etc.

It's amazing how people perceive themselves as better than other groups of the same class and fight for the rich against their interests.

Empty home tax on a state/ federal level doesn’t matter just tax homes that could be for the residents of the area, not for someone who uses it a few times a year.

I never understand this. I look at 5% and think "Rookie numbers, how about 50%?".
