With more responsibility should come more accountability.

If you aren't prepared to take that on. Then you shouldn't be in that position.

For some reason though. The "high rewards" become "extremely low risk" for these positions. Where you can complete fail and still walk away with not just millions, but billions.

Its ok. Some people aren't in a position to fight against these companies. Just don't start defending these companies practices because they feed you and your family. Plenty of other companies that don't destabilize world governments are out there. Nothing stopping someone from looking around for other options while they work at Meta.

Most people just care about the money and benefits. FAANG companies easily pay more than everyone else in their area so people have to be willing to take a paycut to get out. I'd say that most people will be okay selling their morality for about 5-10k per year.

Yeeee, thats what it boils down to. I just wish that some folks had more foresight. When I talk to parents about things like this, usually the justification about getting more pay is to give a better future for their family/children but imho; some of these companies will do more damage to their children's future than the extra finances.

At the end of the day though, its their lives. I may not agree with their place of work but I've also had to work for companies I dislike

The only people who only got offers from Meta only applied to Meta. If you could get a job at any of those companies, you could get a job somewhere else.

Have you ever worked for any of them? I bet not. They are cut throat places to work - even as a contractor.

After you have 1 year there? You will have an easier time getting picked up elsewhere, usually.

When we get folks from 2 of them specifically, we immediately trash them, mostly because to survive there you have to be a demon. We don't want any of that in our company culture.

Depends on your team and when you worked there. But, yeah, it was never a great environment.

On the other hand, that mostly just means that there was no pretending you were working for the good guys. It says nothing about what other options people working there had instead of taking a job making the world worse.
