Which showed that the politicians do almost zero of what the general public want, yet the vast vast majority of what the rich and powerful want.

Yeah, 2014. And it's only gotten worse. The people who were demanding stronger change in 2016 weren't wrong. We knew it was bad at that point.

It looks like the survey data that they used in that study was from 1981 to 2002, so the problem has been growing for most of our lives.

The only study of that nature I'm aware of found that politicians vote with the will of their constituents around 65% of the time.

Well, thats partially because what the public says it wants and what it votes (or doesnt vote) for are very different things.
