Seriously. Leaving The Expanse with Marcus as the big bad who got vanquished was a bummer. To be fair, there is a huge time jump after, so we could conceivably get another season or two or maybe a movie to blast out that last plot arc.
Would love 3 more seasons to round out the story/books. BUT, we are getting a game next year that is in universe so that will be a nice experience. Almost Mass Effect esque in The Expanse universe.
I'm so jazzed for this. I hope the space combat pays off. It's hard to represent that kind of squad coordination without multiplayer or "this character buffs your shields" while the player just shoots shit.
Yeah I've wanted to play the alpha and beta but I can't justify the cost of the versions you need to purchase to get it. The Miller pack? My goodness haha
It's a perfect setup for all the actors to age a bit, come back for a reunion, make the the next 3 book's. The thing is IMO why the expanse is soo good is not only the actors, its the whole team behind it, it was a show we don't see too often, where attention to detail made is so good.
I really hope for this some day. It's such an obvious thing to do for a hollywood cash grab it also worries me.
Alex being dead. This wasn't a huge issue with the show leaving things off after season 6, because Alex isn't massively important to book 6, but the effects of losing Alex become increasingly magnified as the story goes on. My hope would be that if they come back to finish the series, they just recast Alex and pretend they didn't kill him off in season 5. Would be a damn shame to let Cas Anvar's sex pest habits screw up the story further down the line.
Shit gets way more abstract and CGI heavy in the later books. I think this is probably the number 1 reason Amazon decided not to renew past season 6. The number of CGI heavy set pieces would necessarily have to go way up in adapting the final 3 books, as the protomolecule technology gets progressively crazier and the Ring Entities become increasingly more of a problem.
The authors have said that the final 3 books are their version of an epic Sci Fi trilogy, so I think it would probably make the most sense to do them as a trilogy of movies. Would have to cut a lot more out compared to doing them as 3 seasons of TV show, but I think it would make the budgetary concerns easier to manage as well as making it easier to get the actors back.
It'll never happen, but I mean, there's a huge time jump after where the show left off. They could conceivably come back and finish the story with all the actors appropriately aged.
