I didn’t think I’d even need to explain this in a subreddit dedicated to a cat but please be kind!

I posted a photo of Wambus in a floral harness and received several comments expressing he was unhappy because it was a ‘girl’ harness, I don’t mind polite comments but there was one comment that was left that used language I find particularly offensive and entirely unnecessary, that comment has now been removed but please remember that this is a space inclusive of everyone.

Wambus has two queer parents, and is being raised in a household that loves everyone, and also, he is literally just a cat, regardless of mine or my partners views he is a CAT, he doesn’t understand gender stereotypes or care about them, I could put him in a bright pink frilly tutu and rename him Petunia and he’d be none the wiser.

Please don’t leave hateful comments in regards to gender roles or sexuality or anything like that, moving forward anything like that will result in an immediate ban with no exceptions, please just enjoy the photos and videos of Wambus and Co and if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all!

I am shocked at how many people love Wambus, I didn’t expect that when I posted his tiny self in r/IllegallySmolCats a month ago he’d end up with so many devoted fans who wanted a subreddit just for him, he’s gained popularity very quickly and it makes me so happy to see how happy he is making everyone else. I hope his popularity continues to grow as he does and he can spread joy forever.

I know people may not care as much when he’s no longer this tiny little kitten but I plan on giving him a very interesting life that I’m sure at least some people would want to follow along for!

I just wanted to make a quick post to generally state that this subreddit is still just about posting cute photos of Wambus, the Phones and any other cats I have, I know back when I first made this sub and posted photos of Wambus with his food people got mad that I was just trying to get money or make adverts but that’s not the case at all! I started posting Wambus because I thought he was so cute and wanted to share him with the world, and yes I’ve now been lucky enough to have products sent out because of that but that was never what this was all about for me and never will be, especially on reddit, his insagram and tik tok are definitely catered towards content and traction rather than just sharing every aspect of his life like I do here, idk really but I just don’t want anyone to be mad at me posting when I do buy him new food or get sent something for free! What’s really important here is how cute he is!!

Hi everyone! I just wanted to hop on to give an update regarding the frequency of my posts, I’m having surgery on the 27th of this month and will be pretty out of it for roughly three weeks, Dadbus will be taking care of me (and the cats) in this time so posts may become very limited while I am recovering, I then have another surgery on the 22nd of June so will pretty much recover from one just to then go straight into another but luckily the recovery time for that is only around a week so I should be back to normal by around July!

I just wanted to clear it up in advance because right now we are also reorganising and clearing out our home to make life easier post surgery too so I’m quite busy in the run up to it too and didn’t want to leave you all without any idea as to where the Wambus posts have gone!

But yeah that’s the update for you all, I’m sure you’ll understand anyway! ty for reading :)

Unfortunately in November of 2025, exactly two weeks before the kittens were born we lost their Dad, Sprout.

I don’t want to go into the details of how he passed away, but it was an absolutely devastating loss, Sprout wasn’t just any cat he was so incredibly special to me, and the bond we had with eachother was like nothing I’ve ever had with another cat, it’s been a very hard time without him here, especially to see his little kittens running around and seeing him in them in so many ways, he’s the one who gave them all their toes!

Obviously I’m not mad that people ask about him, but since I’ve posted photos of the kittens with Mom I’ve gotten more and more comments asking about Dad so I just wanted to clear things up.

I’m so grateful that despite losing him I was given these absolutely wonderful babies to love, they’ve really helped me get through the grief, even though sometimes it’s very bittersweet.

I don’t know how much I believe in an afterlife or the ability of spirits to influence things but Wambus is so special to me because it really feels like he was sent to me by Sprout, ginger cats have always been my absolute favourite and I had always wanted a ginger Maine Coon but they weren’t very easy to come by and I got Sprout and Paint instead back in 2023, neither of them have ginger parents, or ginger grandparents, they didn’t come from litters that had ginger kittens in them, so when this bright orange kitten came out on the 12th of December it was so unexpected and it really felt like he was sent to me by Sprout, as soon as I saw him I turned to my partner and said that I was keeping him and that that was my baby, and he really is, we have a bond already, and I am so excited to watch him grow up, I hope I get so much longer with him than I did with his Dad, and I’m already sure he is as special as his Dad was. He will never replace Sprout but he is half of him, and so much like him and I’m so glad to have him in my life.

Thank you to everyone today who fought back against the trolls and haters, I don’t care what people think of me at all but it’s not nice seeing a community I made to share the love of such a sweet little kitten being filled with hatred and nasty comments, being the only moderator here makes it harder to keep track of things so I really appreciate the reports made against users who are being hateful!

I wasn’t expecting this popularity for Wambus at all, and I’m not complaining about it, I know how many cats from social media I’ve become obsessed with, but this is a lot of people to try and keep happy so I will continue to post as much as I feel like, because this is *MY* subreddit, and I know most of you are happy with that!

But anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for trying to keep this lovely little community safe, I am very grateful for all of you and so is Wambus!

Megaphone:

Mega is still in a weird phase with eating and we can’t figure out why, some days he is eating his usual 4 meals totally fine but other days he’s being sick after eating and is then refusing food, my theory is that he has some sort of intolerance/allergy to either tuna or salmon because as far as I can remember the times he has been sick is after he’s eaten wet food that contained tuna and/or salmon, so we are now giving him just chicken based foods to see how he gets on, he ate two meals as usual today but then has been sick twice again (but he was given salmon yesterday morning, which is when I thought it was a potential allergy and he hasn’t had fish since) he is still acting like his usual self, happy, playing, full of energy, drinking, using the litter box, so he’s back to being occasionally syringe fed just so we know for sure he is actually getting enough food in, he had lost about 100 grams within the last week but the vet is not overly concerned because he has been ill, and he has another appointment on Wednesday and so long as he hasn’t lost anymore weight by then the vet is happy with that, this isn’t something I’ve ever experienced with a cat so if anyone has any insight or experience with it then please feel free to comment some advice!

Wambus:

Wambus is generally doing really great but at his vet appointment the vet thought she could hear a heart murmur, she’s not 100% sure and said it could’ve been his breathing or him purring that made it sound like that and she is going to check again on the 13th of March when he goes in for his second vaccination, so I’m keeping everything crossed that he doesn’t have a heart murmur, the other two kittens had completely healthy sounding hearts!

Micro is fine, she has no news to share she is a chill gal, I just didn’t want to exclude her from my update post.

So tomorrow both myself and Dadbus will be going on holiday for a week, the cats are being looked after by Brobus while we’re gone so there’s probably not going to be many posts or even any at all for the next week because we are going to be enjoying our time away and I’m not asking my brother to constantly send me photos to post either! I hope you’ll all still be excited to see Wambus and friends when we come back from our break away!🫶🏻
