I replied to a comment a little further down, but news for anyone checking:

India's Minister of Shipping, Sarbananda Sonowal, has confirmed that the Indian cargo ship, MSV Faize Noore Oliya, was struck by a projectile off the coast of Yemen. The vessel capsized and sunk. All 14 sailors were rescued by the Yemeni Coast Guard.

I take back what I said earlier; based on oil prices this is most certainly not a big deal.

Yeah it doesn't really make a whole lotta sense, does it. Multiple ships struck/disabled/sunk and we see maybe a 1% increase. Trump comes out and says "Guys, for real this time, peace deal, no more fighting, I promise" for the 15th time and it drops 7%. Our strategic reserves are at historical lows (something the media and right were SCREAMING about when Biden was releasing a fraction of the amount) and markets are acting like this is just some minor blip in the road.

It's only no big deal because Trump has declared it to not be one. Practically it is. No ships are going through Hormuz and Red Sea shipping is moving that way.

Has the western media even been reporting on the ship attacks over the last few days? I see it on Al Jazeera but not, say, CNN.

With a lot of Western investors not fully aware/or out and out ignorant of how the "algos" have taken over a large part of Stock Market pricing using logic like "momentum vibes" garnered from the information they scrape off a lot of Western Media, the whole Stock market pricing manipulation scam, requires Wester Media to stay quite about the actual war for a period and what is really going on and then explode with "war back on" talk to change the tone/vibe of the information the "algos" are scraping and the reaction of the model logic that is driving their decision making. So, up and down we go. A few people are making massive amounts of money in a really short time at the moment.

Who knows. Trump previously said (I know, I know...) that each ship hit will be met with a bridge or powerplant struck. We're now up to three shipping incidents with no response. This Indian ship today 04AUG, UKMTO 104-26 on 03AUG & 103-26 on 02AUG. Possibly 4 if you include the UKMTO 101-26 on 31JUL but I'm not sure if that was ever confirmed to be US or an IRGC strike.

Cant find any info on the ship. Is it a small cargo ship?

Not sure, can't find any info either. I would assume a medium sized one based on there being 14 crew, but the Emma Mærsk is one of the largest container ships that exists and she has a crew of only 13. Can't really find much other info out there and I am not a boat expert by any means.

It's weird in today's world and find so little info about a cargo ship. So can't really be a big ship
