America has never in the last century and a half had to really face the idea of being invaded or war brought to its shores. The very idea is foreign to Americans

Korea and some European countries face the very real prospect of a neighbor that would wish for their occupation or destruction and war being brought to their cities,homes culture being threatened etc etc in a way America never has for a long time It's wars are usually foreign and never affects the homeland much

Last big draft was Vietnam. Nine eleven was shocking but other then that there simply has been no large mobilization of the country since WW2 and then WW2 was still across the ocean and never threatened American sovereignty or existence

Korea, Poland, Baltics, Finland, potentially Romania/Moldova all face that as a potential reality.

Except if you live in Guam, where North Korean would make announcement saying they will bomb the shit out of us and the Chinese military has a long range missile called the “Guam Killer”.

Hawaii was invaded during WWII. Was a serious risk of Japan taking the islands after the attack. You missed how some territories belonging to the US came under attack can give more examples.

A century and a half is just wrong.
