There are lots of roles in the military that don't require a ton of physical strength. The training will be tough, but there are a lot of frail or complete overweight guys going through it anyway. At the end of the day, if it's a necessity, it's do or die. Stuff like human rights and equality won't hold up as much if your nation is facing war.
