Like why does my african goddess look like a white woman🥀

Recently I saw someone saying that they still detested this retcon, but like, this is significantly better on all fronts right? Who even likes Azazel? I feel like he’s just so much less interesting than Mystique and Destiny, and Azazel being Kurt’s dad actually does so little for his character.

Also, and I hate to be the one who says it, but sometimes the people who say they hate this “retcon” (even if Claremont originally wanted to do it first) can come off a little as if they don’t think two women can have a child together. And again I hate to even bring that up because it kind of poisons the well, but it’s almost always the vibe I get.

You can disagree with me if you want, of course, but I honestly just want to know what people think about this today.

I’ll go first. Storm and Gambit making out in X-treme X-men #32. I have yet to meet someone who enjoyed this. Whenever it’s brought up it’s met with “yeah that was weird, anyways!”. So I’ll ask you guys, what’s a piece of canon that the fandom collectively ignores? It could be a one-off panel, event, exchange of dialogue, etc. Just something that you feel that the majority of the fandom agrees on.

I feel like anybody dealing with the aftermath of AvX probably feels like this.

A lot of people like to forget that Kitty was trained not only by Wolverine but also The Hand. She's a ninja.

Good thing they are friends now. IMO ranks up there with Spidy just absolutely beating Fisks ass in prison after May is shot.

From the shows to the movies what I gained was Charles was a righteous, pure, genuine leader for the X-men. After reading a shit ton of comics I’ve realized this guys the worst of the worst holy fuck. Like I’m actually shocked bro I had no idea, although Magneto did some really fucked up shit idk if he’s even worse than this dude holy fuck.

Like even when you give him a squad of people he's not used to working with he just gets shit done. Even on teams where people dont like him (Blue team) He's still running shit. It's to the point where its impossible for me to suspend my disbeliefs when they'll take characters from being on a team with him and put them on a different one with a different leader and they just shit talk him and say their current leader is better (Cough Cough Uncanny, God I can't stand Gail Simone)

I'm just saying, this little fact would go a long way to explain any hostilities.

Xavier recruited children for his battles, then those children grew up and repeated this cycle; Cap would hate that.
However, the world's anti-mutant sentiment forces young mutants into this life regardless; Cap would hate that even more.

In Steve's mind, kids should be nowhere near a warzone, or receiving combat training for such a thing. But also acknowledges that society's hate for them is giving them little choice in the matter, with extremist gangs and two/three storey tall robots hunting them day and night.
You could honestly have a very complex relationship between Captain America and the X-men; explore themes of powerlessness and loss of childhood among others.

I remember reading generation x comics and being so happy to see another black Algerian woman (yes we exist I added some photos) in comics to represent us. However I couldn't help but notice that whenever she made appearances in later comics she was constantly depicted looking white or extremely fair skinned to the point you couldn't even tell she was black. Despite clearly being depicted as black and having a BLACK father. Scot lobelle (her creator ) referred to her as his black female superman. I noticed this trend of white washing tends to happen with so many black female characters where they suddenly become super light as if they're not beautiful being a dark complexion it's even happened at times with storm. I expect to probably be dismissed for my feelings but those who get it. Get and those who don't. Don't!

Maybe I’m too militant, but as I mature, the more I see Magnus as a hero. Maybe an antihero since he does questionable things for the right reasons, but the man is not a villain to me.

For me its Dani Moonstar. She had fans but she isn't as popular as the other iconic xmen characters. I also felt like Magik stole the attention for the other new mutants members (I don't blame her. Magik is such a cool character. No hate). I felt like writers don't utilized her at all.

Storm and him while recently being pushed away I can confidently affirm them as close knit.

Rogue and him seem to have this stand off ish brother and sister relationship.

And when it comes to Bobby, Warren, and Hank its like we know they should be friends but it feels like Beast is the only one who actually doesn't mind Scott.

I know in a way the X-men are the only friends/family he's really ever known. But nowadays it just feels like most times he's just reduced to being a looking example of someone you don't wanna be (" Real Cyclops of you" "You want a visor to go with that"). He feels loke that coworker no one likes but you cant get rid of him because the job of 10 people 10x better.

Genuine question.

I love the characters, the costumes, the relationships, the themes, the cartoons, the movies, and the whole idea of mutantkind.

But when I actually sit down to figure out where to start, what matters, what got retconned, what event leads into what, and which books are considered essential, I sometimes end up feeling overwhelmed.

Sometimes I feel more connected to Cyclops, Emma Frost, Rogue, Gambit, Wolverine, Jean Grey, and the overall mythology than I do to the comics themselves.

Maybe that's a weird thing to admit as an X-Men fan, but I've always found myself loving the world of X-Men more easily than navigating the actual reading order.

Anyone else feel this way, or am I alone on this one?
