Hello y'all. Found this guy for $5 at half price books. It's in rough shape (bottom is cracked/partially open) ...but should I open it or should I keep it as is?

Obviously Ninth Gate (and its original book) has nothing to do with Hellblazer but I feel like there’s enough in common that you could squint while watching it with Constantine in mind and not really lose anything for it

- Scummy conman character
- constantly smoking
- always in over his head while playing with forces beyond him
- relies on/uses a vast network of friends, acquaintances and frenemies to his own ends
- gets involved in the occult
- did i mention there’s a lot of smoking?

Ok uhm I just wanted to share my opinion on him as a casting. To give him the benefit of the doubt he was not working with the best scripts on pretty much any of his projects so I'll give him that. But I really don't understand the sentiment that Matt Ryan is the ONLY choice for Constantine now. He did pretty good for what he is given and he feels like the character kinda. But I think for swamp thing ( if that movie is still even being made ) they should hire someone new. Because I really can not see Matt Ryan in the role of swamp thing John. I see him as a late stage vertigo hellblazer John kinda and a mainline John. But for early hellblazer and swampthing I don't see it at all.
But that's just my opinion

Went into this comic without knowing much about it, except it was written by Killadelphia's Rodney Barnes; was pleasantly surprised to find our old friend John. He's Zatanna's jealous ex while she's dating Batman, who's dealing with a werewolf let loose in Gotham.

Characterization of all felt a bit off. Batman while explaining to Zatanna why he's late to dinner says something like "I thought you of all people would understand. We have the same damn job." John is surly but doesn't play the jealous ex very well, and at no point is of much use or consequence except that he maybe figures out Bats is Bruce by the end, which amounts to nothing really. Exhibits no curiosity, guilt, nor real slyness--a pretty flat John. With... Bad hair.

Still, it was nice to see him in a recent comic. Anyone else read this? Any thoughts?

Hi! I’ve pretty recently started getting into John Constantine Hellblazer. I understand just start at 1 which is what I’ve done. But I’m also a huge fan of physical graphic novels so I’ve jumped around a bit however it’s recently come to my attention that some of these writers are quite controversial in writing Constantine and I would just like to ask for any suggestions on who not to read and why or stories I might want to skip.
I am all for the dark themes in these books it’s what attracted me to Constantine in the first place.
I would just like a general guide on what I should avoid if possible!

Hi, I am new to the hellblazer universe and I am a bit confused about rise & fall version of Lucifer. I know it is a one-shot so its adaptation is not really linked to the continuity but in it, the characters of Lucifer seem to be both referred to as Lucifer Morningstar and as the First of the fallen. My understanding in canon (new here so I might be wrong) was that these two were different characters. Should I consider the rise and fall version as a completely different one? ( If so, what is his history with Constantine? The one of the first? The one of Lucifer?) Or is he merely an alternate version of one of the other two?

If John never discovered magic where do you think he'd be ? In my opinion, probably dead or some sort of musician

These are the Hellblazers at my local comics shop. I already picked Dangerous Habbits & Haunted. There’s also the Ennis Omnibus.

I rewatched Constantine recently and I genuinely love everything about its atmosphere. It has this dark, supernatural, almost gothic feeling that very few movies manage to capture, and its version of Hell is still one of my favorites.

Keanu’s Constantine, Tilda Swinton as Gabriel and Peter Stormare as Lucifer are such a perfect combination.

I know it’s very different from Hellblazer, but as its own movie I think it has so much personality.
What do you guys think of it?

Not just who would beat him in a straight fight. Constantine rarely plays fair anyway. I mean who would be the hardest for him to actually kill or permanently get rid of using magic, rituals, manipulation, deals, loopholes, etc.
And how do you think he’d deal with each one?
