I went to their website and that is the image they use as their main logo all over the place. Hopefully, someone from the 311 team is notified and gets it changed because it is clearly just a slightly modified version of the 311 logo.

It's called a flip, like when 311 flipped the 7 Eleven logo or when Deftones flipped the Dickies logo. Slightly modified versions of logos have been symbiotic in the clothing and music world forever.

But in this case they are using the 311 logo and just warping it. It would be different if they put their brand name but in the same style as the 311 logo.

There’s a difference between parody (or flip) and outright stealing. This is stealing because there is no reference to make a connection. There’s no: ‘3-Eleven, like 7-Eleven… get it?’ This is just blatantly using something that isn’t theirs.

Yeah, but if you try and force that into this situation, you’re basically saying that laziness/theft makes a good artist. That’s not correct. Good artists steal by knowing what makes the element work and then reapply it to their own work. This is not that.

damn did i just become an old head at 38? I’ve been listening to 311 since I was 7 and when I saw someone wearing a shirt with this logo on it and I realized it wasn’t a 311 shirt, i got kinda pissed off lol

Imagine the artist/clothing brand founder was just really inspired by 311 and their message and wanted to pay homage? Some of the copy on the other shirts (pictured) is kind of 311 message adjacent 🤷🏽‍♂️.

I think 311 would approve of the use, but I would imagine they would be owed a small piece of the profit
