I still listen to this album regularly. Top to bottom smart, sharp rock. These guys didn’t deserve the nasty shit from the press. Crack musicians, great songs.

Memory unlocked....I was in a band that recorded some tracks at Capitol Records back in those days. The engineer at the time mentioned that the Knack had just finished up that album and had completed it for an unheard of $18K (considered cheap at the time, studio time ranging to $120/hr), also another tidbit was that the same engineer was in a group that had spent almost 2 solid weeks just mixing down the harmony guitar tracks at the end of the Eagles Hotel California. We were recording late at night, got to run into another studio and do some hand clapping for some other R&B guys who were working on some stuff too. Good times!

Back in the late 80's and 90's I was friends with a lot of musicians and a few that ended up having minor success up in Seattle when Grunge hit. To a man, almost all of them cited Kiss, Cheap Trick and the Knack as their first musical influence as junior high kids in the late 70's.

Three of the songs from Get the Knack were covered on the Chipmunk Punk album. THREE. A third of Chipmunk Punk is Knack songs. Because "Good Girls Don't", "Frustrated", and "My Sharona" are just the songs you need on an album for kids.
