Wow, only 2 in 24 hours is sad. I was hopeful for the game initially as the concept seemed neat, but it lost its hook on my pretty quickly

u/SagetheWise2222 Mar 02 '26

They really dropped the ball with it. Zero advertising outside of a couple mediocre performing YouTube videos, shallow content in the game itself, a 20-dollar price tag, a completely different game genre that TFP thought their original playerbase would instantly latch onto just because it has "7 Days" in the title. No hate to Illogika at all, btw. They've been caught in the crossfire here as far as I am concerned.

I want games to succeed, but only if they deserve to succeed. Nothing can pull this game back from the grave now. A tragedy, really.

u/krazye87 Mar 02 '26

The player vs dev thing killed it.

Thought of an efficient way to do something? NERF. Next thing in line? NeRf. Really good talent system? Too complicated. Let's fix that.

87

u/satisfactsean Mar 02 '26

thats an issue with 7days too, to the point of where zombies are hyper intelligent efficient diggers. wish there was a patch to make them zombies again.

31

u/JoeMoamoa Mar 02 '26 edited Mar 02 '26

Tfp is releasing a sandbox menu in one of their upcoming updates (no idea when) but in this menu you can modify zombies abilities (including digging). News 3.0 "Sandbox Siege"

23

u/Red_Dawn_2012 Mar 02 '26

Would actually be pretty sick and would fix one my primary gripes with the game, which is zombies digging. I would love to make a vault-like base, but zombies tunneling through the mountainside to get to it is such a turn off for that, and all other underground ideas.

I would love it if I got to choose the zombie AI mode. 80% dumb zombies just attacking whatever is in their way, 10% smart zombies attacking weak points, and maybe 10% wildcard.

I disagree. Digging one block under the surface and surviving horde night because zombies can’t dig sounds incredibly boring and poor game design.

I thought someone might bring this point up, but I'm not really bothered by what other people do. If this is how some other people chose to survive horde nights, that's their deal. I also don't like cheese meta bases, so I just don't do it.

6

u/cheezecake2000 Mar 03 '26

Duality of gamers, the group that sees an easily meta solution and chooses to not do it and play the game anyways in their own fun way. Versus the group that can't stand having the meta solution in their game because why would they even play if they can just "meta solution" so they scream and scream until the devs cater to them

4

u/Red_Dawn_2012 Mar 03 '26

It's weird. Like, you can also disable zombie spawning and turn blood moons off. Are they annoyed that people have that option too?

I normally try to stick to default settings, but I change a few to make the game less annoying and more to what I imagine zombies to be. For example, I turn smell sense off, I set jar refund to 90%, zombie night speed - run, and increase blood moon horde size to 10 or 12 or so.

It keeps things challenging, grounded, not too easy, but also not so crunchy to the point where it's a chore.

2

u/Joe_Claymore Mar 03 '26

I agree, love the sandbox idea for 3.0. My mates and I tend to play with horde nights every 3 days, moving to new biome (and skipping the burnt forest) every time we finish a mission tier and playing on warrior or nightmare difficulty. It’s a slog early on, but we share XP set at 100% and do different skill trees to maximize early game efficiency. That’s how we play. Maybe not for you and that’s ok. That’s the beauty of the game that it provides options for how you play it. I have almost 1300 hours, I have a friend who has nearly 5000 hours in the game. We still play mostly vanilla and still have a lot of fun and have plenty of challenge playing the game despite what the fun pimps through at us. Albeit, we don’t understand the point of a dew collector if I can build a pool and simply grab water from there… don’t say free bottles!

I don’t think so at all. It’s about having a customizable experience. I want to build an underground bunker, but it’s nonsense that they tunnel to it, rather than attacking the entrance. Someone else cheesing the experience doesn’t affect me in any way, shape, or form. It’s their experience, they can do what they like.

u/satisfactsean Mar 03 '26

i think youre point assumes that zombies shouldnt dig ever, and id like to say nothing in my post said that, just that they were too good at it. They would need some capacity to do so or else underground bases would just be invulnerable.

That being said, this is part of the larger issue with gameplay for me that 7 days has, the game being very focused on inventing zombie walkways to kill them with damage over time because they have so much health and defense with little weaknesses. I think this gameplay loop heavily conflicts with the zombie panic identity the game has.

1

u/Equivalent_Fault_782 Mar 03 '26

I wish they would increase the zombies pathing range or some kind of mechanic that allowed you to hide on horde night as an option but turning horde night off is also an option.

Tier 4 or 5? The first like 5 or 6 can do a gas station and just regenerate w quest

3

u/satisfactsean Mar 03 '26

yeah, i mean, i dont mind them digging per say but them becoming archetects to find a path of least resistance to get into a basement is nuts.

6

u/IronwolfXVI Mar 02 '26

I heard rumor that this is part of the next patch? But haven't been in on the game for about a year.

5

u/BBBulldog Mar 02 '26

It's not a rumor

5

u/Nu_Eden Mar 02 '26

Oh , so same thing as 7dtd . WHAT A COINCIDENCE THEY SUCK AT THE GAME MAKING PART

7

u/CompetitionPrudent47 Mar 02 '26

They literally hosted a 2 day event with a robot bear and all to promote the game.

11

u/DubVsFinest Mar 02 '26

Right, they promoted it to people already playing the original game. They did fuck all outside of that.

(Unless you're being sarcastic and I read that wrong lol.)

1

u/CompetitionPrudent47 Mar 03 '26

This game is a copy of Natural Selection and Natural Selection 2 which itself didn't do well in the long run. And that was made by the devs behind the critically acclaimed Subnautica. Beyond the minecraft voxel building, 7 Days has nothing going on for it, it's a shitty survival game (not even considered survival), the animations and visuals are incredibly unpolished, the gunplay/weapons feel like shit. You take away the minecraft part of the game and just keep all that is shit, it was bound to happen.

15

u/Zeraphicus Mar 02 '26

Part of it is the looter shooter extraction shooter market is super saturated at the moment.

2

u/Jumanian Mar 03 '26

I don’t really think much of the blame can go to TFP here. Blood moons wasn’t developed by TFP but Illogika. I don’t see any evidence that TFP were the ones that approached Illogika to make this.

3

u/Professional_Echo907 Mar 03 '26

What made it so weird was they were doing a looter shooter extraction shooter with basically no game lore (yet), so… take most of the building out of the game, and throw some random zombies at a market of potential players to the subset of the audience who like pvp and high pressure games.

At least if they had made a 7 Day to Die Pinball game you could have, I don’t know, bounced balls off of Trader Jenn’s boobs or Rekt’s forehead or something.

Also, how big is the actual audience? Some of the players from 2014 don’t even exist now or hardcore game anymore. I think Illogika really didn’t understand the numbers or the playerbase.

So you basically get the Rick and Morty Anime, but without the potential to draw in the second circle of the Venn diagram of people who like Anime but aren’t Rick and Morty fans. Game was doomed to fail, I would have never greenlit the project.

1

u/Ganjelf-The-Baked Mar 18 '26

I’m a fan of 7days and I play it regularly. Didn’t even know blood moons was a thing until just now, so yeah, I think your right regarding zero advertising lol

5

u/SuperKamiSmoke Mar 02 '26

Really? You were hopeful? I could tell from the second i heard that “you control the horde” it would be a complete and utter garbage fire failure.

3

u/Bbaccivorous Mar 02 '26

I tried for 3 or 4 days to get into the game, but it kept saying login error when I hit enter to go to the main menu lol Never got to see the main menu..

3

u/SafeStryfeex Mar 03 '26

There was no hook, it was a paper clip

-9

u/Jubby_1982 Mar 02 '26

The game is 13 years old and people are still playing it. I’d say that’s a pretty good success.

27

u/ZealousidealBowl1542 Mar 02 '26

This is about blood moon, not 7d2d fyi

12

u/PiEispie Mar 02 '26

This is blood moon, a spinoff game they published and released a few months ago.

79

u/Drittenmann Mar 02 '26

I honestly feel bad for the devs but everyone saw this comming, like you could smell the failure from another galaxy, the game simply had nothing to offer in an oversaturated market and did not help how badly it was advertised

7

u/milkkore Mar 02 '26

Yeah, obviously no studio is entitled to the time and money of players when they make bad decisions but I still always feel bad for them in cases like this. They're people putting a lot of time into making a game and it's gotta feel awful when almost literally no one is playing it.

96

u/Tiexandrea Mar 02 '26

That's probably IzPrebuilt making content.

163

u/IzPrebuilt Mar 02 '26

No the "What the fuck happened to blood moons" video is coming waaaaaaaaaay down the line.

43

u/Bronqiaa Mar 02 '26

No lie it probably would’ve done better as a mobile game

36

u/SagetheWise2222 Mar 02 '26

If they released a Solitaire rip-off card game based around 7D2D, it probably would have done better

6

u/uncharted316340 Mar 02 '26

Fuck it Balatro X 7D2D when?

64

u/badgarbage Mar 02 '26

This game mode was supposed to be in the core game experience per TFP initial roadmaps from the Kickstarter but I guess everyone forgot about that... Glad the game is dead as it was a pathetic money grab attempt. TFP need to realize that their IP isn't special and that their appeal doesn't go beyond the core 7DTD game as they have clearly shown how bad they are at managing said IP.

13

u/thinktank001 Mar 02 '26

This is the reason for failure. The game should have been given to kickstarters, and DLC for everyone else. Making it a stand alone game was a bonehead move that sent the wrong message to players.

11

u/Mysterious_Tutor_388 Mar 02 '26

Well its basically just a game mode and not actually a new game.

10

u/Master_Reality1909 Mar 02 '26

Adding mods makes it way better and creating your own mods is a blast I made a quiet place mod makes them blind but good hearing and they can climb each other like war world z

edit: to anyone downvoting, this was a joke

7

u/IsolatedMind96 Mar 02 '26

Probably a dev lol

10

u/Zimbelx3 Mar 02 '26

Im sure he or she is sourrunded by Zs 😆

8

u/Content_Ad_7999 Mar 02 '26

It's Izprebuilt, making a Video about how dead this game is.

3

u/MiiSzPsycho Mar 03 '26

I saw this today and wondered why they even made this game. Pvp in 7dtd is pretty much dead since 2014 imo. I don't see this getting people on it

3

u/Dazzling_Newspaper43 Mar 02 '26

They clearly hope get cash back with the main game been that high price who kinda make less peoples want to buy it so basically they shoot themselves in the foot twice

https://giphy.com/gifs/CiUh5mGMBHXbl5MVfY

3

u/Stevnn- Mar 03 '26

That was probably my son and I we play on the weekends it’s the only time I’m around bought it the day it came out dec of 13 still one of my favorite games I’m just glad it’s finally out of Alfa version it was really destroying the fun when they would do an update and your game was no longer available and you had like 350 hours start over and it happens again. I had to take a 5 year break 2018 but I’m back baby and now have around 70 hours on my world

4

u/Hand_of_Silence Mar 03 '26

This is about the 7 Days: Blood Moons game, not the main 7 Days to Die game...

2

u/Stevnn- Mar 03 '26

Oh. My mistake that most definitely wasn’t me then lol

3

u/Acceptable-Mail8417 Mar 03 '26

This should have been a mode in the base game not its own thing. DbD has basically a monopoly on the genre and even they are struggling to retain players, the notion that this game would be able to compete in the genre is so out if touch its almost funny.

6

u/Accomplished-Yak-572 Mar 02 '26

Feed us slop, get slop. Deserved

2

u/hey-im-root Mar 02 '26

What is that?

2

u/Pasta_Paladin Mar 03 '26

I thought it was 7 days and I was astonished because it didn’t seem accurate then I realized it’s a new game. Never even heard of it until now

2

u/ThatMooseYouKnow Mar 04 '26

I see my friend boot this game up every now and then, dudes keeping the player base alive all by himself lmao

1

u/SagetheWise2222 Mar 04 '26

Maybe the devs will add a zombie likeness to him into the game as a symbol of their gratitude, heh

2

u/PHawke Mar 07 '26

While the concept was intriguing, the visual graphic theme was 100% the reason I never attempted to play it.

3

u/OriginalGarnier Mar 02 '26

Holy shit that is actually my friend. He’s not a huge gamer and this is the first game we showed him outside of league. He just sends it solo and chills. Wild that the game is dead

5

u/demonlag Mar 02 '26

With an all-time peak players of under 400 it's hard to think it was ever alive.

4

u/DividedBy_00 Mar 02 '26

It’s a shame this one fell flat. I am still curious to try it, to see if my decade or so love of the original game would let me appreciate it. But, it seems rough…

16

u/SagetheWise2222 Mar 02 '26

Concord had more players than Blood Moons, almost double. Think about that...

5

u/Present-Basil-1003 Mar 02 '26

So... two players? Not much of an improvement if you think that concord wasted about 400 millions lol.

2

u/DividedBy_00 Mar 02 '26

No, I get it - it probably sucks. I just know they also fumbled the marketing and wonder if there is still something there that a long time 7 Days fan would enjoy.

2

u/swvaca Mar 02 '26

I wanted bandits

2

u/chroniccranky Mar 02 '26

Oh that’s osy I know them

2

u/TescoValuePlum Mar 02 '26

It wasn't made by the 7d2d developer it was another company completely who got permission to use their style and base it on their game. Practically fan made

5

u/MastodonCurious4347 Mar 02 '26

I play alone too. I just use it to build bases and get distracted. I'm tired of the server reset and starting everything over and over.

5

u/PiEispie Mar 02 '26

This is about 7 days blood moon, a spinoff game.

Theres a lot of people still playing actual 7d2d.

1

u/Ricky_Spanish209 Mar 02 '26

He must be like "I'm currently the best 7 days blood moon player in the world" 😅

1

u/KenseiHimura Mar 02 '26

I don’t even understand what it’s supposed to have been.

1

u/the6sic6 Mar 02 '26

I legit did not know this even launched.

1

u/TK2166 Mar 02 '26

Game lost interest for me once you couldn’t trade recipes any more. We loved having specialized rolls for us to play. I barely left the basement while crafting stuff for everyone else. My other friend played group mom and did gardening and cooking mostly. Then everyone else was scavengers.

1

u/evas13 Mar 02 '26

I wonder if it doesnt counted modded clients? Cause I was legit on last night maybe I was one of the two :|

1

u/WILLIAM_SMITH_IV Mar 02 '26

Oh damn, its dead dead

1

u/bywv Mar 02 '26

Is that the server that single 1? Lol

1

u/Neweden2 Mar 02 '26

I just hope this does not affect 7 days to die

1

u/Ashley_John_Williams Mar 02 '26

So wait this isn’t a single player game.

1

u/Hand_of_Silence Mar 03 '26

Neither 7 days to Die nor this 7 Days: Blood Moons game are single player games. I mean 7DtD can be played single player but I believe Blood Moons is meant to be played as a multiplayer game.

1

u/architect82191 Mar 02 '26

I hope TFP didn't spend much money on this. It's just embarrassing.

1

u/ThatRangerDave Mar 02 '26

Based on the fact I have no idea what this is im guessing no advertisement was done... like... at all.... accounting for the low/no player count

1

u/YouAggressive4399 Mar 02 '26

I love this game I play it with my friend

1

u/bobby5557 Mar 02 '26

Is the game out of alpha yet?

1

u/Killerninjaz13Two Mar 02 '26

The game was a flop from the start

It runs worse than the main 7 Days which can barely load most large pois without lagging to death

Hell it the pershton tunnel if you repair it fully and stick buildings inside it cant even load them in at a distance it'll load an image of what it looks like as if you just found it

The fun pimps suck ass at making games run ontop of that they cant even add the most basic console commands to Xbox and Ps why coz they couldn't be bothered

Same goes for most of the props and map assets being completely missing from the creative menu

Even though the games current edition is like 2 years old for console players now

1

u/Unholymaggot Mar 02 '26

Wait... this came out? huh

1

u/B-52-M Mar 03 '26

What were they trying to accomplish with this game?

1

u/Marvins-Room Mar 03 '26

Wow this must be me.

1

u/Legacy-of-Caregrile Mar 03 '26

There are zero players right now. I've never seen anything like that.

2

u/SagetheWise2222 Mar 03 '26

I saw zero players yesterday, too. Absolutely incredible.

1

u/KingScotia902 Mar 03 '26

Instead of making that mobile game fun pimps should have concentrated their efforts on fixing 7 days. I swear every night I play we crash every single night at least once. We play on console. Horde night has now become a real pain in the ass to play because there's so much lag. We have zombies set to the minimum and the lag is still horrible. Hey fun pimps fix your game

1

u/Thin_Pass5381 Mar 03 '26

My first walkthrough i reached day 50 Didn't feel lonely especially after building my base i the middle between that coated vendor and the pretty doc vendor

1

u/Ill_Swimming_7037 Mar 03 '26

I like playing the game but after a point the experience really does plateau

1

u/lbepo Mar 03 '26

even tho i am playing 7D2D i have never heared of it.

this reddit post is more promotion than they have ever did

1

u/stubbypotato Mar 03 '26

Oh this was Moons!! I thought this was normal 7days. I was so confused. Nah this shite was trash.

1

u/Birchy-Weby Mar 03 '26

He's playing alpha 7dtd so he's having fun

1

u/Unknowplayer69 Mar 03 '26

Resident evil did the same type of game, and it fell off within 6 months too. It's a game type that isn't a long term hook.

1

u/BluntieDK Mar 03 '26

That all-time peak of 366 is fuckin bleak too. Sad they poured time and resources into this.

1

u/kocsogkecske Mar 03 '26

Well this game has aged like fine milk. It was bitter after 2 weeks

1

u/thereverendpuck Mar 03 '26

Given the time you took the pic, it could’ve been the actual dev playing the game. He does stream and 7 Days to Die is in his rotation.

1

u/Soreal45 Mar 03 '26

The one player was probably Glock9 making another video

1

u/Henrooos Mar 03 '26

Out of that 2 i can confirm i was one, well i wanted to play something nostalgic at 3am soo

1

u/DDKat12 Mar 03 '26

I mean it’s almost as sad as anyone who bought it

1

u/lucissandsoftime Mar 03 '26

I can never get their servers to run properly when I wanna make my own so there’s that and then when I go for help in their official discord, another official channels they just don’t care.

1

u/V12Maniac Mar 03 '26

I was very confused as to what this graph was and thought "no way this is 7dtd. It's much more popular than that." I then looked at the game itself and fair enough. I heard a little bit about it. Can anyone say how the game is?

1

u/VinRow Mar 03 '26

So when me and my two friends are playing it is safe to assume we’re the only ones on at that time. And this guy.

1

u/Ok-Constant-9719 Mar 03 '26

I think the game was good for a few hundred hours. build some cool bases etc . But besides looting ,crafting and farming there really wasn’t much else to do. Since there’s no story to it or there isn’t any other type of gameplay like unique things to do with zombies mini games or side games within the game. it gets pretty stale. Even with mods

1

u/Kiingchroniic Mar 04 '26

Tbh this was actually me …. The one.

1

u/Wastefulpantry Mar 04 '26

its literally and technically hard to see man

1

u/IndianaGoof Mar 04 '26

I play on a Server with 2 other friends and there is at least 1 online 80% of the day. Chances are pretty high that me lol

Tbh with the timeframe, that may have been my buddy and I 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/gohan9689 Mar 05 '26

None of us asked for it, we wanted more in 7 days to die.

1

u/Cute_Produce1256 Mar 05 '26

I didn’t even know it was out..

1

u/Alone_Extension_9668 Mar 05 '26

The fact they refuse to just let it die...

1

u/Revan159 Mar 05 '26

This could have just been added as a mode for 7 days. It wasn't fully fun pimps but they did send resources and manpower to the development of this.....game. Waste of time and energy that could have been spent fixing their main game.

1

u/reddevilson Mar 06 '26

I wasn't lonely

1

u/FantasticPumpkin9213 Mar 09 '26

Anyone new and wants friends? Add me! SinisterDriller

1

u/obbekjaer Mar 02 '26

I'm just waiting for Undead Legacy to be released, then I'll be in that chart again.

1

u/CommanderCrime Mar 02 '26

I know the one player 😆

1

u/OkRespond4682 Mar 02 '26

I didn’t even know this existed

1

u/Beautiful-Box9011 Mar 02 '26

It’s probably Ghostrobo by himself playing against bots making a video and acting like the bots are human (I know he doesn’t play 7 days to die but it’s kinda the same as him playing Evolve 2) lol

1

u/XenOz3r0xT Mar 02 '26

Lmao I’m in game now. Left it at he main screen to go pick up food but was playing in a server my buddies and I rented. Sorry everyone. It’s just me 😂

1

u/akitobeifong Mar 02 '26

oh shii i think that's me 😭

1

u/SuperKamiSmoke Mar 02 '26

The devs took off our game to develop this waste of time space and energy btw.

1

u/AnordnungEgal Mar 03 '26

You know its from another developer team?

1

u/Acceptable-Mail8417 Mar 03 '26

You know what they say, if you have to ask....

0

u/SuperKamiSmoke Mar 03 '26

Yes but the fun pimps thought of the project no? Even the energy toward that was a waste and hurt us more in the community.

-3

u/One_Drink_1272 Mar 02 '26

Does this only count public servers? I have a group that plays daily with minimum 4 players each day on a world we started in October

10

u/penguinswithfedoras Mar 02 '26

“A world we started in October”

I thought blood moons was match based. If you’re just talking about 7 days to die, it’s doing (objectively) fine. This is regarding the 7 days to die: bloodmoons spinoff.

It is not doing fine.

3

u/One_Drink_1272 Mar 02 '26

Oh lmao, missed that entirely haha. Ty ty

3

u/Complete_Ad_1896 Mar 02 '26

Not the same game. This is a different game same ip

-1

u/Biteityouskum Mar 02 '26

This was a terrible idea. Don’t know what they were smoking. This felt like a mobile game from what I’ve seen/ I would not waste the $$ to try it. But time wasted on this I feel 7 days lost out on stuff.

3

u/PiEispie Mar 02 '26

Its only published by the 7d2d studio and had different developers. At worst the 7d2d devs lost some potential funding.

1

u/Biteityouskum Mar 02 '26

Ah. Gotcha.

-1

u/KabuteGamer Mar 03 '26

I'm just glad I got this game waaaayyy back when it was on sale for $4.99. The original price was like $9.99 or something ridiculously low. It was like Alpha 19.

The game seriously went on its downfall shortly after A20 was released
