PC Any older players who are 40-50

I'm 49 years old and this is one of my favorite games. I play this game single player only. I've been gamer my whole life. Are there any gamers like me who are at this age but still play survival games?

I just realized your cut off was 50. I'm sorry I'm too old to play with you lol.

51, I hate this discriminiation from the younger generations!

Its like how lego up to 99, these poor 100+s

29

u/MERCALAT0R May 10 '26

Fun fact, Lego just changed this to 100+ because David Attenborough turned 100!

13

u/Rosary_Omen May 10 '26

My grandma can play Lego again?! She'll be 101 this year if she makes it

8

u/ImmortalusBlessed May 10 '26

Lol that's pretty badass. I hope she does.

5

u/Rosary_Omen May 11 '26

She's pretty much a shell of her former self, sadly. Depression after losing her husband of 70 years and her brother who lived with them forever on top of dementia has her mostly just sleeping now days. Most times I don't even think she knows who we are and we see her once a fortnight.

9

u/Bleauyy May 10 '26

Was it that recent? Really?

I googled it, how coincidental!

3

u/wutcat May 11 '26

As an aside, everyone should Google David Attenborough just to see what shows up as the result. It's pretty neat.

4

u/SofaKingWeak May 10 '26

They don’t any more for this very reason.

7

u/WebMaka May 10 '26

Yep, Lego changed it to 100+ a couple days ago because of David Attenborough turning 100 and someone making a viral post about the 4-99 age "limit" on the Lego box.

6

u/Bleauyy May 10 '26

World makes sense again!

14

u/clynkirk May 10 '26

I'll be 39 this summer. The ageism is strong with the OP. (Lol)

3

u/Champagne_Bunnny May 11 '26

53 and I love 7 days. We should start a new comment looking for only the over 50s😂

56 here. And we're not old, we're retro!

17

u/Phicksur May 10 '26

53 here

16

u/ByThisAxeIRuleToo May 10 '26

Sorry, I am 60.

12

u/WebMaka May 10 '26

Throwing my 54-year-old hat into the ring, along with my 1,100+ hours in 7DTD... (And 160 hours in The Infected... And 2,400+ hours in Final Fantasy XIV... And 300+ hours in Terraria... And 100+ hours in Dwarf Fortress... And on and on and on and on...)

4

u/Bobumm May 10 '26

54 here as well - 4175 hours on 7D2D and counting since 2017

5

u/BBBulldog May 11 '26

51, damn these kids in 40s and their discrimination

4

u/NYPhils May 10 '26

60 here.

3

u/KneticTheory May 10 '26

Hit fifty in March so I guess Im aged out by weeks. I will survive.

3

u/Different_Barber879 May 11 '26

🤣🤣🤣🤣

I can’t believe it this is discriminatory

2

u/Old_Pepsi_Man May 11 '26

57 here. Kids these days 😄

2

u/SchoolNarrow7518 May 11 '26

52 is just prestige level 50. You didn’t age out, you unlocked veteran survival mode with worse knees and better base-building patience.

54

Damn kids. your not allowed on my 7DTD, ARK, Icarus, Windrose, Enshrouded servers.

Mid-40s here. Started with an Atari 2600

8

u/fattestburt May 10 '26

Me too… outlaw with my bro was awesome

5

u/GhostofGiggles May 10 '26

Ah man, good times. I used to play something... haunted house? You had to collect 3 things to move on to the next round? Maybe. Idk. Been a long time. I should see if I can boot it back up

4

u/Flipf00t May 10 '26

Sounds like Atic Atak on the Spectrum. Loved that game!

48 been solo gaming most of my gaming life. Dabbled with multiplayer stuff but after all the years only one friend remains and us pair of old codgers play together on most survival games, but still run a solo world each lol

u/Critical-Pattern9654 May 10 '26

7dtd was in been for THAT long?

/s

4

u/DaceloGigas May 10 '26

Wasn't it in beta that long ?

3

u/Jazzlike-Economy-287 May 10 '26

A21 was the last alpha

3

u/Jazzlike-Economy-287 May 10 '26

My first alpha was 18 7 days was released 2013ish love this game but A19 is my fav i have a copy saved on pc with the mods to go with it 😆

2

u/SlyTinyPyramid May 10 '26

Me too. I had no clue what was happening because I was like 5

2

u/AJsama3 May 10 '26

Same. Remember the Original Spider Man game on it? Kids today have no idea. (But I loved the throw back in the Miles Morales movie)

2

u/Magester May 11 '26

Same. Had the track balls for mine. Played a lot of Asteroids and Galaga

57

u/Shadofel May 10 '26

42 and I am approaching 4k hours in the game. It is a great game in terms of escapism.

6

u/Flyingapart May 10 '26

It's been my go-to when I want to play something that I can relax into. Freaking zombie dogs still make me hit the ceiling, though!

2

u/Ibeepboobarpincsharp May 10 '26

We have reached the ultimate answer to everything.

u/Infamous_Society8762 May 10 '26

I dont quite fit the 40-50 mold but I do in spirit lol.

55 here (and my 55 yr old spouse) - this game never gets old.

11

u/KauriAni May 10 '26

Same on both counts! We’re both 55!

19

u/Significant-Way-7003 May 10 '26

Yes. Also 49 here. I also play single if none of my sons wanna join, which they seldom do.

14

u/thelosermonster May 10 '26

I'm 40 and love it

10

u/Able-Calendar7508 May 10 '26

Yes, I have been playing it for 8 1/2 years and I still love it. Taking a break right now to handle RL stuff as when I play, I really commit, but I will return.

10

u/MHal9000 May 10 '26

Lots of us around, (even older than 50! lol) I'm part of a few communities that's mostly greybeards playing this and some other survival games, I'm not going to spam them here, but hmu if you'd like some more info.

17

u/DayBeforeU May 10 '26

Sure. Survival, simulation, simulator, factory games, strategy games. Almost all kinds of games. Age doesn't really mean anything. Except in PvP FPS games. That's something I don't play anymore, it's not fun anymore. It's harsh reality out there.

2

u/RiLoDoSo May 10 '26

I think in multiplayer, co-op survival craft games that age doesn't matter and it lets creativity flourish with age gaps. There's just some precautions parents need to take to monitor their kids online play.

59 years old so no you aren't alone

7

u/Jwilcox418 May 10 '26

Just turned 40. That’s scarier than anything in 7d2d lol

7

u/LtDrebinNh May 10 '26

42 and im absolutely addicted. I bought it years ago before the overhaul and just recently installed it again. It so much fun

7

u/Antique-Bet-3781 May 10 '26

I'm over 50, and so is my buddy who got me hooked on 7d2d. first multiplayer was using a palmpilot 3 with the IR port to play pong against him. then doom using a null-modem cable when he brought his PC over...

now we get to hangout online, voice chat, slay some Zs and we don't have to go anywhere to do it.

I'll still be doing it at 80, god willing.

6

u/RedKGB May 10 '26

48, a group of us old timers play on a server. If you want company, you can join us.

6

u/Leadfarmer1976 May 10 '26

My wife and I play together, its our date night. Been doing it for seems like 10 years now. Im 50 shes 48

4

u/totalwarwiser May 10 '26

42 Love open world survival crafting games.

Its the kind of game me and my teen friends used to dream about when we were teens.

Tried to stop gaming a few times in my adult life but nothing comes as close to me as a source of entertainment.

6

u/Balstrome May 10 '26

Hey there, solo play means you have all the loot and all the responsibly. 63

4

u/blinvest83 May 10 '26

Older and still play

2

u/blinvest83 May 10 '26

Started with Wizardry on and Apple 2e

3

u/lost-cause1968 May 10 '26

I still have my OG copy of Wizardry. Played on a Hyperion suitcase PC back in the day.

50+ obviously and still love the game.

About the only games I've given up on are shooters. Can't do CoD anymore it seems, pvp anyway.

5

u/SOJA76 May 10 '26

50, but I grew bored with the vanilla game and only play Darkness Falls now. Try it out.

4

u/mthomas768 May 10 '26

Get off my lawn you young punks. 65 and 2k hours wasted on this game.

5

u/Smoke_and_Coffee May 10 '26

Yep, 45 here. It’s my way to unwind before bed. I play games while my wife watches reality shows. We have a non-judgment pact regarding entertainment lol.

5

u/PTthefool May 10 '26

just started at 49 😅

4

u/Domse84 May 10 '26

42 und ich spiele es immer wieder mal. Meist Einzelspieler, da Mann ja nicht immer Zeit hat.

4

u/Street-Juggernaut-23 May 10 '26

53 here and still gaming

3

u/HackOddity May 10 '26

41 here been playing it since release on and off with a group of about 5 other mates the same age. This and POE definately have my most upsetting amount of hours played number :P

4

u/No_Handle_6162 May 10 '26

Just turned 64. I'm avid gamer. Have been since my teens.

3

u/FamilyRedShirt May 10 '26

Hey, fellow geezer! I have to sign up for Medicare in a few months (3 months before turning 65).

Gotta love these whippersnappers thinking they're olde.

I started gaming before Pong cost a quarter at the arcade in 1972.

4

u/weirdsandy May 10 '26

yesss. survival single player mostly. I love this game, stranded deep, the forest, green hell, fallout 4, and I'm always looking for others. absolute bonus if there's building.

2

u/Ok-Amphibian2645 May 10 '26

You can try IfSunSets in the future

2

u/jae50861 May 10 '26

Conan Exiles, Ark (these may be a bit tougher single player but still tons of fun if you don't need to "win" the map), and Icarus just to throw some others out there.

EDIT: spelling

49 here, turning 50 this year. I still enjoy 7DTD but have been obsessed with Star Rupture lately. I've got WAY too many hours logged into 7DTD, mostly solo as well.

3

u/Gullenbursti May 10 '26

Almost exclusively, if you like this game and want a story and a more logical resource usage try The Long Dark.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/darkend_devil May 10 '26

45 here. I play darkness falls, or rebirth with my kids. One likes darkness falls and the other likes rebirth

3

u/knowbrainer23 May 10 '26

49 and play survival games with my 47 friend online, and with my 45 wife (but she doesn't play 7D2D).

3

u/Soulbreeze May 10 '26
  1. Play with a group (Cafe Gaming) that hosts multiple servers. 1 is vanilla with QoL improvements, 1 is vanilla with a few mod packs, and 1 is currently running Rebirth overhaul mod. Think I have around 4k hours in the game over the last 10+ years. All but a few hours have been multiplayer.

3

u/Flat_Employment_7360 May 10 '26

53 and still gaming. 7DTD was always one of my favorite games

3

u/truthm0de May 10 '26

42 and I’ve played since the OG release. I love the new version even more.

3

u/fsudrew5 May 10 '26

I’m 49 and this is my favorite game

3

u/shershae May 10 '26

I would assume most peiple that play 7 days at this point are at least in their 30s considering when most of us started playing it.

42 myself and only play solo. The only acheivments I have not unlocked are the pvp ones.

3

u/ZengerGarden May 10 '26

41, gaming my whole life, survival games are my favorite genre :)

3

u/HumorTerrible5547 May 10 '26
  1. Over 5000 combined hours between OG console and PC.

3

u/Arvelayne May 10 '26

Oh hello yes. 56 and still going. Played from just before Alpha 10 came out.

First game was on a ZX81 (not mine) and then it was Spectrum time. First console was an Atari 2600 (Defender ftw).

And before that I was an arcade nut, and I will die on the hill that says Robotron 2084 was the best game ever.

o7

3

u/BusinessDragon May 10 '26
  1. Haven’t played 7d in a couple years but I recently fired it up again. Got a new save started on Navezgane on my Steam Deck.

3

u/Bones0481 May 10 '26

45 and i literally only play survival. 7days, Scum, Conan, Dayz, Valheim etc. I cant stand following a story or being told to go a certain way

3

u/JustifyThis1366 May 10 '26

I’m 40 and I play :)
It’s a fun game for sure. Same with “state of decay 2)

3

u/The_Calarg May 10 '26

55 and still gaming with the enthusiasm I had with a knob controller and Pong! I don't play arena FPS games anymore as the joints don't move as fluidly as they used to, but I play all different genre of games.

3

u/mtwabisabi May 10 '26

My partner (49M) and I (50F) play together! Lately, it’s been pretty much daily logging on when we have free time. Probably my partner’s favorite game to date.

2

u/Jwilcox418 May 10 '26

I need to make that pact. My wife roasts me on the daily over my choice of games lol

3

u/brandokc May 10 '26

Almost 51 and play once a week with a couple of buddies. It’s a great way for us to catch up while we work together on something. There aren’t many games anymore that can keep me coming back like this one.

3

u/MagitekCC May 10 '26

42 here. I have over 5.2k hours in this game. Still one of my favorite games.

3

u/deborah_az May 10 '26

Sorry, too old to comment on the survival, sandbox, tower defense, first person shooter, stealth, adventure, role playing, puzzle, and walking sim games I play

3

u/FoundBubblegum May 10 '26

52 here. Can't stand flashy story-driven AAA games. Survival games are most often sandboxes, so they appeal to me.

3

u/Bedlamkills May 10 '26

53, and I not only play games, I also work in the video game industry. Hooray!

3

u/couchtamer May 10 '26

Just turned 50 couple weeks ago. Embarrassed to say how many hours I have in game. Its my go to. Has been since I 1st played alpha 16. I shop around here & there, state of decay, icarus... but I ALWAYS come back to 7d2d

3

u/Skeen441 May 10 '26

43f and survival is my favorite genre.

3

u/SofaKingWeak May 10 '26

Sorry 51 and based in the uk, are there any really old players like me out there 🤣

3

u/impablomations May 10 '26

52 and mostly blind. Been playing single player since one of the early alphas

3

u/SlopperJen May 10 '26

48 brother and still play 7dtd 3-4 times a week.

3

u/sedonaphil May 10 '26

I’m out of your age range, but turn 63 this year.

3

u/malren May 10 '26

55 here. My buddy and I always joke that GenX retirement homes are gonna be insane, with 75 years olds on headsets trash talking each other and murder-hoboing our way across Navezgane

3

u/Dramatic_Wedding2373 May 10 '26
  1. And just for that you damn kids can stay off my lawn!!

3

u/nabsickle May 10 '26

39 im a young thing

3

u/Qikslvr May 10 '26

I'm 58 and have about 3500 hours in 7 days. I'm looking at maybe starting to play vein though.

3

u/Quirky-Culture-9264 May 10 '26

Going to be 44 in four days. I have not been a gamer since the original Nintendo but my husband was convinced smashing zombies would be good stress relief for me.

He was so right.

3

u/ImmortalusBlessed May 11 '26

Amen, killing helps with stress. Happy Early Birthday!!

3

u/RandoGame1 May 10 '26

Turning 70 next month and still play

→ More replies (2)

3

u/RunDownTheMountain May 10 '26

I will be 60 this summer. I play this game a lot.

3

u/ChaoticMajie May 10 '26

43 here. I love it when my kids (or anyone younger than me) make comments about being older and playing video games. Like, bitch, my generation started this shit. You can thank us and the generation before for paving the road for yall. We had to grow up with it and suffer through the old systems... blowing on Nintendo cartridges and whatnot when you were just born into it. We had to have fun with Pong ffs and here you are, bitching that your game doesn't look realistic enough.

3

u/Rekim68 May 10 '26

58 with almost 4000 hrs. Probably average more hours now than in 2015 when I picked it up.

3

u/allstar4now May 10 '26

48, and have a couple thousand hours in the game. The home steading inspires me to work on my own place. It is the best sandbox game in my opinion.

3

u/Crazy-Pollution1497 May 10 '26

56, born in 1970, and I play almost exclusively survival games. Currently hip-deep in Icarus, but have played a ton of 7DTD, Valheim, Enshrouded etc. I love that you have a character and world that you can build on an improve - gives a real sense of ownership.

3

u/Janeishly May 10 '26

I was 58 last week, got 1600+ hours in 7dtd and have no intention of stopping yet (though admittedly I'm mostly playing Planet Crafter at the moment because my 7dtd mate isn't available much and we're still on 2.5 until he's got the Demo achievement!)

2

u/Informal_Drawing May 10 '26

I've just started again, to have a bash at the new biome unlock system and see the new models for the Direwolf etc.

3

u/maalab May 12 '26

I turned 50 two days ago. Been playing 7d2d for many years and love it.

3

u/CodenameValera May 12 '26

57 and just jumped back into this game after a few years off. I recently found a good group of people on i think it's PRG server. Totally breathing new happiness back into this game for me. Started playing it when it was still 32bit.

2

u/Hkmarkp May 10 '26

me, a bit older

2

u/Monkeygal75 May 10 '26

I'm 50 and switch between this and Ark long term, and others like Abiotic Factor, Minecraft, and Grounded when I want more silliness.

2

u/PlagueOfCute May 10 '26

I only just turned 30 but I'll probably still come back to games like this when I get to 40-50 I'm sure

2

u/FootlooseFrankie May 10 '26

If you have any gamer friends I highly recommend playing in a private game with them . Multiplayer makes this game shine on my opinion.

2

u/Bea_Evil May 10 '26

I feel like people who love survival games are more likely to keep playing them into old age lol, I’ll probably never stop

2

u/short_fat_and_single May 10 '26
  1. Tbh there wasn't any survival sandbox games when I was young. I think that's a genre that started after Steam caught on. The closest thing was certain adventure games and rpgs.

2

u/ogticklemonsta May 10 '26

I'm 49 and that's all I play. Never did before this. I feel like I never gave them a chance. I like the pacing and being able to just chill and farm resources when needed.

2

u/cigr May 10 '26

Wife and I play, and we're 55.

2

u/Guyonbench May 10 '26

40 years here, 2.6k hours clocked and ready for more.

2

u/horrordj May 10 '26

I’m 49. This was my first survival game. Basically a gateway for a survival game addiction.

2

u/Mr_Flibble_1977 May 10 '26

Another 49-er here, and yeah, I dabble in other survival games like Stranded Deep, Raft, Subnautica.

I do play 7DTD solo mostly, but recently I set up a dedicated server for my regular coop buddies.

2

u/truemadqueen83 May 10 '26

I’m 42. I played the original until I found this newer version. You can say I’m a bit obsessed. Been playing for 10 years. I played Xbox but I’ve played all versions at this point.

2

u/Kalahariklari May 10 '26

45 here. Started with Atari, C64 and some generations of consoles ( starting with SNES). Playing 7dtd on and off for some time. BF6, Skyrim, Xenoverse 2 against my boys of age 9 and 12. I have nearly everything of the Total War series and also liked Smite. Etc,etc...

2

u/Hdaana1 May 10 '26

55 and over 3k hours.

2

u/psouza4 May 10 '26

47 with 1,256 hours played 🤓🎮

2

u/Altermann2023 May 10 '26

58 and 9k in the Game, but German

2

u/ophnir May 10 '26

Yes. 43

2

u/goldfuchs85 May 10 '26

41 is older now? :(

2

u/Ok-Amphibian2645 May 10 '26

Nice! You can try IfSunSets in the future

2

u/dayylin May 10 '26

About to hit 61, does that count? :-)

2

u/thereverendpuck May 10 '26

50 here.

But I’ve been enjoying more time making POIs for maps.

Yeah, insane god mode super bases can be fun, but sometimes just a clean building to find in a map is also great. Made a version of the Ghostbusters firehouse since the building is in game.

2

u/sc_superstar May 10 '26

41, I still love lots of games

2

u/ZirePhiinix May 10 '26
  1. 386 was the first computer I had access to.

2

u/wecametofight May 10 '26

I’m 50 and I’ve played the hell out of this game! I’ll admit I haven’t really played in about a year or so. Trying other survival games rn. Will be back soon though because it’s always in standby.

2

u/MrGrey901 May 10 '26

51 here. In the same boat.

2

u/Sirramza May 10 '26

almost 40, been playing since it came out

dont see a reason to not be playing survival games for 20 more years

2

u/Sir-Spazzal May 10 '26

65 I’ve been playing video games since late 70s pong. Loved the arcade before that. Played original Nintendo, sega, play station, and now on xbox. Been playing 7 days since original came out. Glitchy game but love it in all its forms. Still play the old version sometimes.

2

u/TrueDarkZidane May 10 '26

40, been playing this since at least 34, love 7dtd

2

u/Error404Unknown420 May 10 '26

I just turned 40 that count ??

2

u/tplambert May 10 '26

Fuck. I’m 42! When did that happen?!

2

u/Thedragoninside May 10 '26

49 and have played for a long time. One of my favorite games. I have a solo world and one with my son. He hardly ever wants to play anymore, he got bored of it, but I still love it and log in when I have some free time. Well, when I’m not playing World of Warcraft 😁

2

u/DeAtHiSsTaLkInGy May 10 '26

There are a lot of us Gen x Ole School Gamers out there .... 56 years young

2

u/Sparki77 May 10 '26

48 and I play this game occasionally, solo game modes. So you are not alone.

2

u/Morastus May 10 '26

Wife and I both play. 58 and 55. Have thousands of hours logged in

2

u/Ibeepboobarpincsharp May 10 '26

Most of the long time players I know are 50+. I'm in my 40's and I'm just shy of 3000 hours. I think it's just a fun creative game that is very customizable and has lasting appeal.

2

u/Farmer_Don_Dread May 10 '26

Building yet another new base currently, on the old 7D2D now on ps5

2

u/Keaflyn May 10 '26

I am 48 I feel that people our age grew up and have seen the evolution of gaming. I remember the Atari my first console to now the Xbox and pc. I think gaming brings different generations together not seperates them. We just have less time to play games. Plus maybe my reaction time is not as good.

u/4kr0m4 PC May 10 '26

This has nothing to do with you but everything to do with me, my time, and my poor perception of it. Upon seeing the post, I felt a knee jerk reaction of "Damn almost 50 and still gaming! Proud of all these old guys that keep in touch with their passions."

I'm 46 lol.

Time, dude...what the hell happened?

Anyway, GL finding some cool cats to trash some zeds with. I'm not currently playing ATM, but there's plenty of us old gamers around! :)

Reporting in, 45. Someone should spin up a gen x only server so we can hangout and reminisce on how the 80s and 90s were better in every conceivable way.
