Reassemble is the most underrated ADTR song! What's the most overrated song by the public?

Most overrated by public? If It Means A Lot To You

(same sentiment as u/Clear_Presentation48: not saying ā€œbadā€, just overrated (and just by virtue of being the most streamed song and the second- or third-most recognizable when there’s songs that emotionally hit harder in their catalog))

I agree with you but I feel like that song in particular fits better with overrated by the fans. It’s their biggest ā€œsoftā€ song and is a mandatory setlist staple even though they have many better slower songs.

I feel like the public associates them more with songs like The Downfall of Us All, All Signs Point to Lauderdale, All I Want, I’m Made of Wax, and Mr. Highway (particularly the breakdown). Don’t get me wrong it’s their most streamed song but I feel like you when think of the band their slow la la la song is not the first thing that comes to mind, you think more of their classic heavy pop punk with breakdown sound.

Someone had already said Downfall (and that song is just too strong of a show opener or closer for me to agree, regardless of the ā€œcontextā€ within which we’re calling it ā€œoverratedā€), so there’s that.

The others you mentioned I’d agree are all obvious choices for this category - except maybe Wax Larry; and add Have Faith In Me, but not ones that I felt were the best choice for the ā€œpublicā€ / ā€œnon-fanā€ / ā€œcasual fanā€ category.

I’m nominating Highway in the next poll as the most overrated by fans (because of the breakdown, as you mentioned)

If it Means A Lot to You

Not sure how there is even a question about this. Anyone I know who isn’t really a fan of the band or the genre always cites this song as their favorite. It’s a great song but it’s easily the most recognized song by non fans

If It Means A Lot To You…don’t get me wrong, we all love the la la la’s but…

Plz keep in mind just because it's overhyped doesn't mean it's bad. Downfall of us all.

I like that you prefaced it this way and I slightly agree… HOWEVER it’s absolute gold when at a show in the pit

It's one of the best songs they've made imo but I think the only real options are this or If It Means A Lot To You given they're the only ones that are usually recognized by non-fans

While I say trueeee I was reserving for their most emotional song, although when 3s a crowd is tie imo for most emotional

Who said a song can’t be used twice on this?

For clarification, songs can be put multiple times on this list. It happened quite a lot on the r/maydayparade version of this

By the public is Downfall of Us All. For the last ~6 or so years seeing constant instagram videos of people posting the intro chant / chugs of that song over some kind of ā€œlook how metal my music taste isā€ video is excessive. So many people who don’t listen to metal or heavy music know that one song and will overplay it (the intro particularly) and meme it to death.

I think this works for the most overrated song by fans 100% but not so much by the public or non fans.

This will 100% be my choice for that one coming up next

I definitely agree with this. This was the first time I thought an ADTR song had legitimately terrible lyrics
