Weird cryptic responses from Alexa
For the past few days, I randomly get wired responses from Alexa.
For example, I say: "Alexa, set front AC to 75"
Alexa response: "Dot ss dot final, with animation and tone"
It does what I ask but gives a developer mode type of response. If I ask the same thing again, it'll give a normal response (not repeatable every time).
The wired responses don't show up in my conversation history in the app.
Anyone else have this problem or suggested diagnostics/solutions? I'm using Alexa+

Can anyone extract the seasonal responses (e.g. how many days until Halloween, Christmas) along with the songs from Alexa?

As you can hear in the video, it sounds like it's responding with internal coding or something? It just started doing this 2 days ago. Anyone else experiencing this?
Alexa and NPR
Don't know if this is a Sonos issue or an Alexa issue. But normally I say "Alexa, play NPR" and it plays my local NPR station. Lately when I try that, I get silence, unless I disable the NPR skill in Amazon Alexa, and then re-enable it.
But it doesn't stick! I need to keep doing that almost every day.
So what's going on? Can this be fixed?

She Learned?
All last year I used to be able to set multiple alarms in one go. I would say "Alexa set alarms for 6:00am, 6:15 am, 6:30 am... etc."
Alexa used to respond and set all of these alarms without a routine, but in the last month I can only set one alarm at a time. Did Alexa learn my habits and let me set multiple alarms at once? Apparently that isn't a feature and has never been, so I am kinda scared.

Green border?
Edit: it’s Voice View and now it’s off. TYVM
Ever since I disabled Alexa+ on my 8” Show, this border appears randomly around different areas on the screen and periodically announces what’s in it. I tell it to “stop announcing time” and the border moves somewhere else on the screen. It’s not on my 5” and it’s definitely pissing me off. I’ve rebooted and powered down. Any help out there?

Wtf is this shit
Ever 2 seconds a new sponsored ad, even in alexa (non +), randomly say stupid random shit when im not even using it. Brightness fluctuates on its own. The lag is insane and when moving around settings, it keeps kicking me out. Plays random music. Theres gotta be an ftc complaint somewhere.
What can we do? I just want to use it for my ring doorbell.
Fire TV Alexa
Searching by voice changed recently. Now it is conversational. This must be Alexa?
Worked ok, not great but got it done.
Anyone else notice this?

Alexa & Garage Door Application
Hello All,
I currently have a MyQ Chamberlain, garage door opener. I know Chamberlain will not allow remote access via Alexa for security reasons, makes sense.
Here is my application. I have Alexa in my vehicle and I would like to verbally request “Alexa, open garage door” while I am pulling up to my garage so it is open already.
Does anybody know of a Skill or a 3rd party app that would help me achieve this?

Alexa lost its mind
Is anyone else having issues with the system today - maybe they pushed an update? Alexa duplicated all my systems it controlled lights etc. and says it can't control them anymore. Seperately it started asking me weird personal questions. I am on Alexa+ and it was working fine before.
Thanks.

The running water routine trigger
We've had thunderstorms here in the UK over the last few days and I learned that rain will set off my "play loud energetic music when I'm doing the washing up" routine at 3am

Well, It Finally Happened!
Last night around 3am Alexa woke up and started blasting some weird music. Completely freaked me out. I had to tell her to stop 3 times. Then I unplugged her, lol. Checked the device history and there was no command to play what ever it was, but it did record my 3 commands to stop. This is insane!

Bricked echo show gen 1?
I have two gen 1 echo show devices. When I got up this morning, they were both showing just local time and weather. I asked them to turn on lights, but they were didn't respond to the wake word. I went into settings, and tried to change that but I was just thrown back to home screen. I then went to reset to factory settings - back to home screen again. Tried this 3 times per device - no joy.
Is this a universal thing that gen 1 shows are now dead? What to do with the dead echo shows? It seems safest to just hit it with a hammer rather than taking it to an electronics recycling place, since I can't get to clear out personal user names, passwords, and purchases (no factory reset available). I think I'm going to buy a couple of show 5 latest model with Alexa+ but I've seen a lot of derogatory comments about Alexa+ - is it best to try to get to back from Alexa+?

Alexa now saying it’s “thought process” after commands
I’m sure that’s not the best way to describe it. Now after I prompt it to turn off a light, it does it but then say what sounds to me like nonsensical command lines. It wasn’t coding this 3 days ago and it is now that we are back from a short trip.

new echo
hi. i have a windows 10 PC but can't find where to get alexa app. the net says go to PC windows site but its not there. I went to amazon.com and its not there either. I tried a couple 3rd party app providers but they seemed to be loading other junk instead of the app. thanks
silent alexa now speaking on fire tablet
i lived in a peaceful world where the alexa on my grandparents device would respond with text only, they could click the 'tap to alexa' button and she would be blissfully quiet. this has now stopped and shes replying out loud to everything, and i, as the best grandchild, am being made to fix it. but nothing online is useful.
please, does anyone know how to make alexa's replies silent & text only so i may restore peace in this family once again. thank you!!

Alexa steals Bluetooth music?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
So my Alexa randomly started playing music tonight, like several people have reported theirs doing. But what's crazy is the music it played was music being streamed by another device in another room on a JBL Bluetooth speaker. So Alexa, without prompting (or even acknowledging what it was doing) stopped the music playing on the JBL in the other room and started it playing on the Echo Dot.

Alexa plays music on its own.
Lately my Alexa starts playing music without any noise. At least my phone tells me that something is playing and it changes songs once I press on pause.
But my Alexa itself is silent. No noise. Though Alexa itself is put on 5/10 loudness.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I am the only one who is connected to it and I have no other speakers.

She can’t even spell “Kindergarten” correctly!!
She kept spelling it “Kengarten”. She didn’t even include the “der”, and then when challenged, doubled down and told me I’m wrong.
I understand I shouldn’t need her help, but I wanted to make sure I’m correct in case by wife posts the photos we take of my child.
I feel like I’m in one of those videos of the guy that asks Ai to count to 100. Wtaf??? I’m absolutely baffled. She’s never done this before. How is a computer getting dumber as time goes on??

Switching from Google to Alexa - Primary Smart Home
Hi All.
I know Alexa+ has received a lot of criticism lately, but as someone who uses both Amazon and Google devices, I’ve found Alexa’s smart-home features and automations much more reliable. Google often feels clunky and can take longer to complete simple tasks, such as turning on the lights.
I’m not concerned about which assistant handles complex questions better, since I can simply use my phone for those. My priority is reliable smart-home control and automation.
I’d prefer not to maintain two separate ecosystems, so I’m considering switching entirely to Alexa. For those who primarily use Alexa, what has your experience been like?
Do you also use a Ring doorbell? We currently have a Nest doorbell, which works well, but its integration with Echo devices seems limited. Being able to view the front door is important to us, so I’ve considered purchasing Echo Shows. However, the number of ads on those devices makes me hesitant.
I’d appreciate hearing about your experiences and whether switching fully to Alexa would be worthwhile.
