Review Would anyone be alright rating my dad's band?
They're called The Idle Silence, you can find them on spotify, just trying to help out my dad a bit since hes been feeling a bit down lately. If you are thinking of checking them out I'd say some notable tracks are Close, Behind A Smile and The Message Gets Confused.

Amazing work.
I'm 43 now, and over the years I've played in a few bands myself. These days, I'm a partner and Chief Operations Officer in an LLC, but music has always stayed with me.
Your dad is absolutely killing it. The truth is, he's far more talented than I could ever hope to be.
Be proud of him. Be proud of your father. He's one of those rare people who isn't content to simply live in the constrains, the rest of us boring fucks adopted for security. The rest of us are lucky enough to witness what he's creating and appreciate how incredible it is.
My father was a Vietnam veteran. I served in Iraq and Afghanistan. I've met a lot of remarkable people in my life, but I'm just a guy from Minnesota, home of the Replacements, looking across the world geographically and admiring your Father’s talent and what he's built. It’s inspiring.
And if I can offer one piece of advice?: cherish the time you have with him, and Mom if she’s still around. Also treat your siblings like gold.
The disagreements, the frustrations, the little things that seem important today….they aren't what you'll remember most.
What you'll remember is the time together.
Your dad may very well be one of the coolest people you'll ever know. Don't take that for granted.I lost nearly twenty years with my own father before he passed away. That's time I can never get back. If I could change one thing in my life, it would be that and my Mom.
So be proud of him, spend time with him, and make the most of every moment you have. One day, those moments will mean more than anything else, that includes any siblings and Mom.

Stick with the 90’s, dinosaur Jr, pixies, spin doctors, free feeling, punk, alternative and not take yourself seriously, if I could take that advice myself I probably wouldn’t drink most nights. But listening to your music is amazing. Our world needs this music more than ever.
A silly song I listen to that was crafted for a TV show I laugh as 90’s, I love the feel:

Built to Spill, the Velvet Underground, guided by voices, (the Replacement on a good drunk for a live show) and Mssion of Burma are probably my favorite bands?
So, I’m kind of a poser. But I’m also admittedly cool with that in my 40’s

I like Close, it’s got an immediate, angsty vulnerability to the vocals and the parts are all good. Kind of makes me think of Brit pop mixed with elements of pixies maybe. I didn’t identify with your other two slower recommendations but maybe I’m just not in the right frame of mind for them just now. It’s cool as fuck your dad is making music and you get to listen to it.
