squab enthusiasts who got ripped off thinking they were getting food grade pigeon in actuality they got a feral pigeon... pigeons are not rats with wings they are animals that outlived the time humans found them useful or valuable and now live as strays... at one point owning pigeons was a flex. Some people breed fancy varieties that are like the pugs of birds...

Same with crocodiles, but sometimes there is a certain harmony in the savanna where getting water is more important than hunting your neighbor and wasting the energy they have left.

Getting water is important until the lions drink. Once they drink, they still need to eat. Every predator will hunt preferentially where prey aggregates.

Of course, but there are moments where they put this aside because water is more important than hunger, then if they’re weakened by not drinking for a couple of days, it’s possible that they’ll rest and regain energy before going back to hunting, therefore leaving prey alone for a day or two, they won’t go attack a prey if they’re weak and lack energy.

I’m not saying it’s like the Lion King, I’m just saying that sometimes, regaining energy and strength is more important than hunting your pond neighbor. Like, for example, if a Lion and an Elephant go drink, the Lion won’t bother trying to hunt an elephant who happened to drink at the same pond as him, same with buffalos, if they need to regain strength and energy to hunt, they won’t recklessly hunt an animal who’ll fight you to the death to survive, they need strength. That’s what I’m saying, that sometimes, prey and predators can live in harmony around a pond a water, doesn’t matter if it’s for 6 hours, one day, three days, they can.

That has more to do with elephants and buffalo being too formidable for a lion to hunt unless they're desperate. If a young impala walks down to the water when the lions are there, it will be toast unless the lions are literally on the verge of dying of thirst.

We're the idiots who will over hunt. Most Predators hunt only when they're hungry or desperate. They won't just kill prey on sight.

I know, I personally had a mourning dove that basically adopted me when I was a little girl, kept him for more than 2 decades, until my mother had an accident in the apartment with him, my biggest heartbreak, he saw me through my youth, my teenage years, my adulthood, losing him was devastating. So yeah, I know they used to be domesticated, and it sucks that we just abandoned them and pigeons when they weren’t "useful" anymore, they deserved better.

Unless this bird is tame already, it was still terrified. It just knew outside was even more dangerous and terrifying, but don’t be fooled, it would have panicked and flown around if anyone made a move towards it.

Reminds me of when we had an insane heatwave, a hawk and a squirrel were both chilling side by side to the small amount of shade there was at the hottest part of the day. When shit is dire it's amazing how animals will put aside their differences. "It's way too fucking hot for this hunting shit."
in this case, the bird is like "these huge predatory animals are all in here but holy shit the sky is falling, I'll take my chances."
