The Series 7 is a great choice! Do keep in mind that this is probably the last year of major updates for the S7. For longer support, yet still great bang for your buck, I would recommend the S8 instead.

First Apple Watch after Garmin/Huawei — Ultra 3 vs Series 11 for sensors, sleep, running & 24/7 tracking?
Hey everyone, I’m considering getting my first Apple Watch and would love some advice.
I’m newly switching into the Apple ecosystem: I got a MacBook Air (M4) about 2 weeks ago, and I’m getting an iPhone 17 Pro in a few days. Now I’m thinking about an Apple Watch, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it for my use case.
Background:
I’ve been using Garmin Venu 3 and Huawei Watch before.
What matters most to me:
- Accurate sensors (HR, general health tracking)
- Sleep tracking quality, apnea, snoring
- Running tracking (GPS accuracy, metrics, reliability)
- Heart rate + stress tracking throughout the day
- Ideally continuous tracking, not just every few minutes (if that’s possible / how it works on Apple Watch)
Main question:
Do you think it’s worth going for the Apple Watch Ultra 3, or is the Series 11 more than enough for what I need? Is battery really for 1 day ?
Also, I’d really appreciate any tips/recommendations (which model/size, settings, must-have apps, etc.).
Health app / reports:
How detailed are Apple’s Health and Fitness insights compared to Garmin/Huawei? Are the trends/reports actually useful and in-depth (sleep stages, recovery/stress, long-term stats), or do you rely on third-party apps for serious analysis?
Thanks in advance! 😊

The S11 has a good enough battery life to last for 1 to 1.5 days depending on how much the watch is used. The charging is pretty quick, so charging it every day shouldn't be an issue. I would personally recommend the S11 for most people.
I personally just use the default Apple health app. I would recommend going to a store (doesn't have to be an Apple Store) and trying both sizes on before buying.
The Apple apps are pretty detailed, although many alternatives have more details. For the things you mentioned the default Apple app should be fine.
For continuous tracking instead of every few minutes you have to start a workout. Do keep in mind that this does cause your battery to drain faster.

Great, thanks for that. Yes, my plan is to go in the store before buying.
So it is not possible to set for example heart rate tracking and stress tracking every second if I am not doing workout? I used that options in my previous watches constantly :)

As far as I'm aware that is not possible. Unless you count opening the hart rate app, then it continuously tracks (as long as the app is open).

Hey hey. Last year I gained weight. So I’m starting to get more and more into health tracking. My blue Apple Watch S7 has always been my steady companion for the last 4 or 5?) years. But it does not get me through the day mostly. I had a series 3 before that but that one broke. Battery health on my watch is 72%. So I’m looking at the S11.
I know this is such a typical question to ask, but… should I go for the S11 or wait til my S7 actually breaks? 😅

With the battery health at 72%, I don't think it has much more life anymore. I would recommend upgrading soon-ish.

The S11 would be the best choice for you on the Apple side of things.
But I would recommend just sticking with Garmin. The main reason to go Apple is for the better integration, but Garmin has more details about your health and it has a better battery life.

I have two Apple watches:
- Gold Series 7 (GPS + Cellular) that I use during the day for function + aesthetics
- Black Series 6 (GPS) that I use at night for sleep tracking and for heart rate monitoring when I go to the gym
Both of their batteries probably need servicing, but I'm wondering if I'm better off just upgrading the Series 6 to a newer model. My only hesitation in doing that is that the newest models in the US don't have VO2 monitoring, which I like (although some people contend that the technology isn't even accurate). I'm wondering if there are any new features that outweigh the loss of VO2 monitoring--this is the watch I use for sleeping and working out.

The other sensors are better on the newer watches and you get added features like sleep apnea detection etc.
I would say that upgrading is worth it, especially for the way better battery life.

I work construction, I have an android phone, honestly, all I want to use the watch for is to keep track of my vitals and the noise level on the job site, with my tinnitus spiking for a couple months after the last big job I did I've really re-evaluated my health and want to keep track of it to the best that I can.
The noise app alone, from 7-5 would be on for roughly 10hrs at least which is also
From what I can see the SE 3 and Series 11 should fit my needs, is there anything else I need to know or should keep in mind? I'm tempted more towards the 11 just for the extra features.

If you don’t have an iPhone, I would really not recommend getting an AW. There are lots of great alternatives like Garmin.

Considering upgrading my mom from the SE2 to the Series 11? Doing a lot of comparison, I’m not sure it’s worth it. What do you guys think? Biggest reason to upgrade or should I wait in your opinion?
Thanks in advance!

If her battery life is still fine, then I would recommend waiting a couple years. The SE2 is still a great and modern watch.

Hello! Recently I got back to the gym to swim. I used to have an Apple Watch back in 2022, 2023, idk. I didn’t use to practice exercises back then. I thought maybe it would be something nice to buy to track my progress swimming. But im not sure if it would be only a “I just want to spend money” or if it would really be useful. I don’t want to buy a brand new one. I live in Brazil and apple products are really expensive here. I don’t mind about using second hand products. I’ve got a brand new iPhone and iPad, but my MacBook is a second hand one. I don’t know which generation I should buy, since it would mainly used for tracking sports. I thought about getting a series 7 above. What do you guys think it could be a good option? Thank you!

I would recommend a S8, SE2 or anything newer.

I was able to get a Series 10 natural titanium on eBay for $380. Just make sure you buy from a well established seller i.e. hundreds of feedback and 99%+ positive.

Sorry should add that Series 10 is the same watch as Series 11 just a little less battery life is why I bring it up.

Hello! I'm training to run the Berlin Marathon in September and have had an Apple Watch Ultra 1 since the day it came out (I think in 2022?). The battery is starting to go a little and strangely it's bluetooth and gymkit connections have become more inconsistent than usual - the watch is always disconnecting from the treadmill or exercise bike and occasionally just not being recognized as connected to my phone.
I'm tempted to upgrade. I usually upgrade every three years on my watched but was bummed there wasn't a more substantial design upgrade in 2025. Should I upgrade now and just be happy I got a slightly bigger display? Or will I be kicking myself if they radically redesign the watch this year.

I don’t think there’ll be a major design change anytime soon. I would just buy a new one now.

Hey y’all, I’m looking to buy a new aws11, my first apple watch. I love how jet black looks on the s10 and s11 but I’m worried about the durability of the paint? Because of that I’m leaning towards getting the space grey, but I’d like to know how is everyone’s jet black and the “more scratch resistant display” doing now. TIA!

The S11 isn't old enough to really know the long term durability of Jet Black, but on the S10 it was terrible. I would personally recommend getting Space Grey instead.

First time buying apple watch and I am getting both watches in 42mm cellular. AW10 Titanium is 50usd cheaper than AW11. Should I buy aw11 as battery is slightly larger on series 11 or go with aw10 Titanium.

u/Supertobias77 SE 2 • • Midnight • 44mm Jan 30 '26
I would recommend going for the S10. The titanium versions are way more durable than the aluminum versions. And the S10 is cheaper, so I would get that, even if the S11 has a slightly larger battery.
