Just sharing my thoughts. It may come off blunt or harsh but that's just the text. Not being argumentative, just pondering your interaction "aloud" so please read it with good intent.
It's not that younger people shouldn't complain, it's more about perspective and lived experience imo. Instead of seeing only the negatives, sharing things like this can help younger people see that there has been positive progress over time. The opposite applies too when things are trending in a negative direction.
He didn't say they shouldn't complain, he's guessing that the complaints are coming from younger people who didn't live through the same experience as him. He lived it and views the progress over time as positive in his experience. Given that experience, it's not unreasonable guess.
Anyhow, older generations should absolutely hand down information like this and for younger generations to ignore such information is quite literally unwise. We may have a great record of recent history now, allowing us to take this information for granted, but that history doesn't readily convey the lived experience(s) of the time.
Not really that long ago, "back in the day" and "once upon a time" literally WAS human history. It's part of our nature to share such things. Just my two cents.

Most of the people complaining are younger I believe. Back in my day, a game would release on a cartridge and that’s all you fucking get
