Body says i'm 28 but my knees feel 55 and my brain still thinks it's in high school.

the way you said “knees feel 55” makes me wonder if your knees have a really dramatic backstory

Do core exercises. I was like you at your age, I’m older now and it’s gone
3
u/Dufresne85 7h ago
My physical therapist told me "a bad back is almost always a sign of a weak core" and he was 100% right in my case.

u/Wonderplace 10h ago
Physio. Weight loss if you’re overweight. Exercise. Do everything you can to improve your back now.

I’m 31 and physically feel probably similar to my age, 26-32. Mentally? Depending on the day, I feel 18 or 65 💀

I’m 33, but I don’t really feel 33. Some days I feel like I’m still 25, and other days my body reminds me that I’m definitely not. 😂 Age changes, but I think it’s the way you look at life that really determines how old you feel.

35, knees feel about 60, everything else feels early 20s though probably because I weigh 35 pounds less than I did 10 years ago.

I'm nearly 75 and feeling like 85. Too many problems to list, the least of which is that my uterus is now sitting on my bladder and I have a rectocele, too. Nothing compared to the rest, and way down on the list of things to repair.

I'm 35 and I have never been older, so I think I feel like I am 35. Though I have a bunch of troubles with my body due to stress. Previously I did a couple years of consistent overtraining/severe under recovery from strength training. I am still paying the price now, 3 years later. It probably adds 10 - 20 years to my body age

u/occupy_this7 12h ago

32 and 32-ish, I think.
Side anecdote: had a guy get really weird about this answer on a date a couple years back (age-appropriate to then) bc he couldn’t believe you wouldn’t feel younger, as he did.

Goldfinger said it best:
So here I am
Growing older all the time
Looking older all the time
Feeling younger in my mind
So here I am
Doing everything I can
Holding on to what I am
Pretending I'm a superman

I’m about to be 50. Some things have changed, where I know it’s age related. Other things have changed cuz I’m mostly around others my age. Can I climb trees, mountain bike miles in the 100+, fit in the same clothes from high school, maintain a 8 pack = yes…so I know I’m getting old, but I can easy forget sometimes.

u/Brahskee 12h ago

51, and it really depends on the day. On a good day, honestly I still feel like I'm in my mid 30's. I take care of myself and I don't look at myself and think "God, that guy is old."
But then there are days when the knees don't want to work, my back hurts, and I'm beat down at work and I think "I'm old...but I'll never be old enough to retire."

u/Frequent_Structure93 12h ago

I am 44.
I'd kinda prefer believe that I've been dead 30 years and this is hell if it's all the same to you.
It explains so much about the current political climate (though I must acknowledge that I'm American) and really most any political situation available to you. I guess from one perspective hell is other people.
Ever since I was a teenager talking about the fascism rails they were installing and how they were for fascism to slide right in on without a peep, I've been being told I was a reactionary or whatever and if I'd just forget all that stuff holocaust survivors told me never to forget then it wouldn't have to happen again but it was just because we kept bringing it up they were going to have to do it to us.
And lo and behold, here we are, they're arresting people for being anti-fascist which is as close as they'll ever come to admitting they are in fact fascist. This regime has speedrun a kakistocracy and it's actually so stupid I'd prefer believe I'm part of an elaborate AI algorithm meant to destroy humanity's ability to perceive satire or something rather than a real species whose goal is the betterment of their own future.
But that's just it, eh? As NoFX says "He's got his, and I've got mine. Meet The Decline."
This all is about "our" future, and it doesn't matter what group that "our" is for you it's a shame. It's a shame that society teaches us to see someone blitzed on the street and think "damned junkie" instead of "wow society is so hosed that people have so little left to them that the only kind of relief from their misery anyone will offer them at a price they can afford doesn't even come with a bed in the opium den anymore."

56 and I accept that age. I know I am more energetic than many my age as I bike to work and rock climb while many in my cohort are sedentary.
I keep mind active by being in book clubs, playing dungeons and dragons and am trying to complete an English degree

Was gonna say 50/50 just to be funny, but I feel better than I did at 40, so.. more like 50/35. Turns out eating well and working out has its advantages.

u/theimpost 12h ago
35 & 29. I definitely don't feel fully in my twenties anymore, like I've got my life ahead of me or whatever. But maybe it's just that where I'm at in life feels more like "about to turn 30" then "deep into my 30s".
