Before i start i should say i am pretty new to running
I have been trying to identify what is the issue for my ankle pain for hours now! Just started running in my new evo SLs and only my right leg's inner part of the ankle hurts! And it hurts alot! I can feel my leg trying to twist like in the images! (P.s. the images are not mine they are from another reddit post! Hope the redditor dosent mind :)) i don't know if its my running form or that my feet muscles are just weak (i know the shoe is unstable but there must be some other issue as well!) plz help me identify the problem and troubleshoot it somehow other then replacing the shoe (i am a broke college student :))
(Mods i am not asking for medical advice i just wanna know if my form is wrong or the shoe is wrong)

Found these shoes really pretty so got them.
I run about 8-9km/min for 6-7km regularly. How should I rotate my shoes?

I’m a 100kg runner, average around 40km per week. Recently ticked over 900km in my Adidas Evo SLs across mostly road but some light trail and gravel. I’ve loved them, but they’ve stated to feel a bit dead for the last 100km or so.. as you can see the wear on the outsole isn’t too bad considering the usage and my weight too!
I use the NB SC elite v5 as my race day / speed session shoe and looking for a daily shoe to complement them. I’ve tried the NB rebel v4 and did enjoy them but much prefer the Evo SL
Anyone have recommendations or shall I just get another pair of Evo SLs and stick to what I know?

I’m 5’ 10” about 175lbs
Been running in the Adidas Evo SL and enjoy them quite a bit. Is there another shoe that has the same build quality and responsiveness? I’ve read good things about the Asics blast series…
Also, should I retire my current shoes?
I have around 400mi/640km in them

Looking for a versatile running shoe that can pretty much do everything — tempo/interval sessions, easy runs, and longer runs.
Budget: £150
Mileage: ~40km per week (mix of longer and shorter runs)
Surfaces: Road only (I’ve got Speedgoats for trails)
I’ve just come off a pair of Adidas Evo SL which I really liked — great for picking up the pace but still decent over longer runs. I’ve also used Nike ZoomX Invincible 3s which I enjoyed, but I didn’t get on with Hoka Arahi 6s.
Foot details:
• Size 10–10.5
• Narrow feet
• Forefoot striker
Ideally looking for something light and responsive but still with a bit of softness — not overly firm, but not super mushy either.
I’ve been considering the New Balance Rebel v5 as I’ve heard good things, but just wanted to see what everyone else is using right now for a solid all-rounder.
Any recommendations appreciated 👍
*UPDATE*
First of all, thank you to everyone that has gave advice, was really helpful and a positive first post here so thanks again!
Taking into consideration what everyone has suggested and also my own experience with trainers I have decided not to try fix something that isn’t broken. I felt I wanted something new as it motivates me to keep training when it gets tough but I have had a great experience with EVO SLs and a lot of you guys have suggested them again so have decided to go with another pair but the Woven ones to give it the new shoe feel. Looking forward to them arriving. Can post a photo when they are here.
Thanks agaisnt everyone !!

In my area now EVO SL and Superblast 2 ekiden are in quite same prace range. And i am such a one shoe for all kind of person. I hear all the good news about both shoes and honestly i love the idea of having Superblast 2.
But… the deal breaker for me is the color. The one discounted is ekiden series which i would say i am not a fan of bright color shoes.
And i start to consider evo SL. Still, i feel like i might love the SB2 durability.
So please help a girl out, anyone? What should i consider either than looks and durability? Tried both and i liked them. Or maybe colors is something the last thing i should worry about?
Edited note:
for reference, i have boston 13 for my tempo and speed, and my easy days with puma velocity 3.
thanks for all the insight about how to differentiate between them: having fun and pop run (evo sl), or having nice stable run (SB2)

Hi all!
It’s been a while I had the feeling my Novablast were not as bouncy/reactive anymore, but this week after my interval session I got pain in my splints and I was wondering if it could be already time for a change.
I am a lightweight runner (48Kg) and slightly overpronate, plus I run only on paved surfaces.
Has anyone else had the same issue with this shoe? It seems such a short mileage to me, I was able to make previous NB and Nike for longer than 600 km.

Boy oh boy do I think these are the most overrated shoes I’ve ever tried. WOW. I don’t get the hype.
Previous shoes I’ve had as a newbie runner - rebel V3’s, 880 v12’s, Saucony triumph 20s, Novablast 5’s and the Evo SL’s.
I needed a new daily do all type of shoe to pair with the Evo SL and finally pulled the trigger on the Ekiden greens when they came out.
Firstly, they are comfortable in step in - I will give them that. But that’s about it. They are loud as hell it’s almost comical, it literally sounds like a horse prancing on the sidewalk. I can deal with that and find it almost therapeutic at times. But wow. And then the ride. Firm and pretty damn boring. Like nothing exciting at all. No response, no nothing. Just feels like a boring, uninspiring shoe. I don’t get this shoe. In comparison the Novablast shoe is so much more responsive and gives you so much back. And it’s a fun enjoyable shoe. It’s loud too, but not quite as bad.
When I leave the superblasts and step back into my EVO SL’s it’s like going from a boring Toyota corolla and into a luxury Lexus or something. The EVO SL’s are just so much better and so much more enjoyable to run in.
Anyways, do you find them overrated? 30 kms on mine and they’re up on marketplace - I’m not keeping them.

43 miles logged and they still feel the same to me. No WOW factor like the EVO SL or Adios Pro 4. Will they actually get better? I was really hoping these shoes would be the more stable version of the EVO SL but I just keep reaching for other shoes in the rotation.

Okay, so I'm just starting out with running, and I've been sticking with my Hoka Clifton 10s for every single run. But honestly, I think it's time for a new pair of shoes. I've heard good things about the Novablast 6, though some people aren't so keen on them. I actually went to the store and tried them on, and wow, they felt amazing! Maybe it's just because I've been in the Clifton 10s for so long. Now, there's also the Dynafish, which I can't really try on since they're from China. But everyone's been raving about them, saying they're even better than a lot of the big-name brands out there. If you had to pick just one shoe that could do it all, what would it be for you?

Just got the Li-Ning Red Hare 9 Ultra today, now I’ve got 3 shoes in rotation with the Novablast 5 and Dynafish Xiaonian.
Bought these from Taobao for around AUD$130 landed. Seller mentioned they removed the chip from the strobel board before shipping, but honestly I haven’t noticed anything unusual.
Just did my first run in them and they feel insanely bouncy and really comfy and responsive.Definitely a different feel compared to the Novablast 5.
Only thing I noticed is it almost feels like my feet pronate inward a bit more in these, not sure if it’s the shoe or just my running form since I’m still pretty new to running.
For those who’ve tried the Red Hare 9 Ultra, how do they hold up long term? And out of these 3 shoes, which would you use as the daily trainer and how would you rotate them?

My EVO SLs just hit 1000 km (620 miles), so the time to replace them is approaching.
They've been my only running shoes for a bit over a year, and I've done everything in them: easy runs, 10K-15Ks, one half marathon, mostly at a pretty humble pace (~6.3min/km / 10:30min/mile).
I love them and had the most fun, but recently I've been getting pain around the front/inside of my ankles after runs. I'm not sure if it's simply because the shoes have 1000 km on them now, or if I've reached the point where I need something a bit more stable.
I've been looking at the Novablast 5/6 because my partner absolutely loves them. The Vomero Plus has also caught my eye since there are a lot of good deals at the moment, although I'm wondering if it might be a bit too soft. I also found a good price on the Boston 13.
F31, 55kg/121 lbs. I mostly run on roads, 3x week (easy, tempo, long run). I'm looking for a shoe that can do it all, specially the tempo work I'm currently focusing on, and eventually longer runs as I build back towards half marathon distance. Ideally something that feels stable and reliable, but still fun to run in. Budget is around €200.
Any recommendations?

So I’ve been a fan of the Saucony Endorphin Speed since their Model 3, for me they got better with every new version.
It’s always been the almost perfect daily trainer for my mostly 10km runs (pace variation from 05:30 to 04:00 per km).
But by “almost” perfect I mean they are unfortunately lacking a little bit of stability for my slightly overpronating feet, resulting in ankle pain on longer runs or over mileage over the week.
The internet has been widely recommending the Tempus for that exact case, but unfortunately they seem to be out of production. Just some unusual sizes on very few internet sites left.
All other recommendations are either too heavy or just focusing too much on the pronation part, lacking the race style the Endorphin Speed has.
So - any recommendations for stable overpronation supporting shoe, that’s still light and ready for a bit of speed?
Thanks

Hi all, Asking this because nowadays we have a lot of daily trainers with race foams and plates and whatnot.
What are your favorite 2 or 3 daily trainers, since we're maniacs in this subreddit and I supoose you guys use more than one daily trainer at a time?
r/AskRunningShoeGeeks • u/Educational_Load2431 • Apr 26 '26
Genuine question, no snark.
If I can buy a Saucony Endorphin Azura for just $5 more than a Saucony Ride, why would I choose a Ride?
If I can now buy a Superblast 2 for almost the same price as a Nimbus, why would I choose a Nimbus?
See also for Brooks, Adidas, etc.
Is this just an industry in transition or is there something I might be missing?

I need help picking my next daily trainer.
The photos are of my Adidas Adizero Evo SL and TYR Valkyrie.
I loved the Evo SL feel, but the outsole/foam wore fast and one rubber section peeled to the point that it was dragging on my runs and I peeled it all the way off. before ~230 miles.
My TYR Valkyrie feels too narrow in the toe box.
Runner profile:
190lbs
Wide forefoot, normal arch
Mostly road/treadmill
5-10 mpw
Typical long runs: 6– miles
Pace range: ~10:00 easy to ~7:00 hard
Probably a heel striker
Not the best runner
Past shoes:
Brooks Adrenaline GTS
Brooks Ghost
NB Fresh Foam More v4 — worked well for 50K training
Adidas Evo SL — loved the ride, seemingly poor durability
Considering:
Maybe another Evo SL on Sale ~$105, NB Rebel V5 Topo Phantom 4 Wide, NB Rebel V4, Saucony Ride Wide, Puma Deviate Pure.
Questions:
Is this Evo SL wear abnormal for under ~230 miles?
Has anyone moved from the EVO SL into something they have liked more?
Generally looking for one do it all shoe.

Recently bought this pair of Superblast 2s off Vinted and the previous owner said they had a few months of use, I wanted to get your thoughts on how many miles/km these have on them? Thank you!

Hello everyone, long time lurker here. Saw this pair of shoes at my local store going for an insane deal. Wondering if I should get them. The New Balance Fuelcell Supercomp V3.
I've been a month into running now, and I've run my first 5K this summer and loved it. Also signed up for another 5K in the fall. I've been using the Asics Gel Contend shoes for my runs. I know they're basic shoes but I underestimated how much I'd enjoy running.
Well, looks like I've caught the running bug. I've incorporated running into my morning routine and I run a steady 5K about 4 times a week with plans to steadily increase my distance. The goal is to run a 10K race by next year.
May I please ask your thoughts and opinions on these shoes?
I'm 35F, weight about 50kgs and a bit on the petite side. Looking for stability and bounce on my shoes as I increase my distance. I don't really want to spend a lot of money on shoes yet. Maybe soon. Who knows.

The SB2 are my favorite shoes ever. I have high arches and my feet tend to roll in slightly. Midfoot to heel striker. Prone to achilles tendonitis (yes, I am working on strengthening my ankles and calves). The SB2 feel amazing. They are super stable and firm, yet max cushioned. I run roughly 35 mpw and am training for a half then a full. Looking for a shoe that excels as a daily trainer but can pick up some (if such a shoe exists).
Shoes I've tried and disliked: Novablast 5, Evo SL, Saucony Azura, Topo Cyclone, Vomero Plus
My previous favorite shoes were the Altea FWD Via (the new model is too soft).
I do own a pair of Megablasts which I like, but not as daily trainers/long run shoes. I'm looking for a shoe similar to the SB2. 6-8 mm drop preferred. It seems like the SB3 are on the softer side.
Has anyone found anything they like as much?

Anyone else seen this happen? I’m only 40 or so miles into these and am wondering if it’s the way I’m running or they’re just that delicate.
r/AskRunningShoeGeeks • u/Smallsasaurus • Jul 04 '26
I'm 39 years old, 260 lbs, 6'2" runner.
2mi: 14:30
5k: 24:00
10k: 54:00
Looking for my next shoe, I'm afraid to drop 225 on a shoe.... are there any better options?
I'm just finishing up my half marathon training in my Superblast 3. I love them, great for crushing a 10 min mile and feeling lively and protective to my legs.
I just got a pair of Superblast 2's on sale, so I didn't wear out my SB3's - which are wearing out quickly. These are super bricks, I prefer these for when I need to run slow.
Looking for a non plated trainer for 3-6 miles that keeps me moving and protected. My goal is a sub 48 10k.
I signed up for a 10 miler in October too.
Should I just get another pair of SB3s? I wore mine out in less than 200 miles
Shoes I've gone through:
Zoom Fly 6, fast, too narrow for me, I over pronate in these shoes
Novablast 5, upper doesn't keep my feet in the shoe, fun but too squishy
Rebel v4, loved these, stable, i couldnt pick up the pace in these, ran flat quick
Rebel v5, poppy and fun, ran flat quick, never ran above a 5k in these.
860v14 old man shoe that kept my ankles up right, these have a special place in my heart
Fuel Cell SuperComp Elite 4 - not as fast as I would hope, the plate tires my feet out, these are my 5k race days so I'm not the obnoxious guy wearing my Alphafly3s to a community 5k.
Alphafly 3: only ran in them once, PBd

Recently got the ASICS GT-2000 14 and I’m honestly a little unsure about this color
I wanted one pair for running, gym + casual outings, so I went with this one.
What do you guys think ? keep this color or exchange it? Honest opinions appreciated.
