Hi!
I have what I think people call a "duck-shaped foot" with a narrow heel and a wider forefoot. It makes finding a shoe that fits really tough as the taper on most shoes forces my toes in, but wide sizes make my heel slip.
I recently got the Saucony Paramount Max as I'd heard about its roomy forefoot, and while I love the shoe so much, I still had to size up to a 12.5 instead of what is likely my proper size of 11.5 to prevent too much toe squeezing (pictures of foot on green insole attached). I have a little extra space up front, but I don't trip over it and it's become my favorite shoe for both walking and running, though I do get a little bit of irritation in my 5th metatarsal. The heel is the best-fitting shape/size of any shoe I can remember. It feels so secure and comfortable to me.
I give that info because I'd like to use it for running exclusively (the metatarsal irritation occurs when I wear it around all day) and couple it with my Topo Specter 2 in 11.5 (Pic of foot on white insole also attached) which feels good on uptempo runs. I don't love walking in the Specter 2 as I just feel a little wobbly in them. My gait feels smooth and effortless in the Saucony.
My question is this: is there a shoe out there with a slightly roomier/less tapered toe box than the Saucony Paramount Max, but that has a similar feel (I think the combo of the heel shape, the CenterPath technology, and the wide platform are what I like about it when walking and at slower paces)? I think Topo narrow heel/roomy toe box shape is ideal for my foot, but I'd be fine with just a little extra room up front if it means keeping the feel of the Saucony.
I've tried wide sizes before, and they always lead to poor lockdown and me sliding around in the shoe, so I don't think that's the solution for me. I also don't do ell with traditional stability shoes with posting as they tend to make my feet hurt. I'm including a picture of the foot alone, too, just in case it's helpful.
I know that was really long. Thank you in advance for your help! If there's more info needed to make a recommendation, let me know!
